  • 2. Where we are now
    • Events: Houston, Austin, La Grange, Club 300 Kickoff
    • Great awards party with large budget and stagnate attendance
    • Takes a lot of time to organize
    • It is long, but doesn't recognize everyone that deserves recognition
    • So we asked for some feedback...
  • 3. Survey
    • 1138 responses from team captains, committees, general riders and sponsors
    • 28% attended an awards party
    • Website, Pin & Certificate and Prizes were the most motivating rewards
  • 4. People who attended:
    • Favorite parts of the party: camaraderie (66%), Awards (50%), food (34%)
    • 38% said it was very important
    • 50% said it was neither important or unimportant (10% said it was not important)
    • Best way to recognize me: prize (71%), website (68%), pin & certif. (59%),
  • 5. People who did not attend:
    • 60% were too busy or not interested
    • 50% were not interested in attending
    • Wanted to be recognized by: Pin & Certificate (53%), Prizes (51%), no thanks needed (47%)

    • Too busy
    • I live out of town
    • If i was a major award winner i would attend
    • Happy to fundraise without recognition
    • I would rather the society saved the money
    • This is a charity ride, why would i get an award?
    • Did not know about it
    • Did not have anyone to go with me
  • 7. What did we learn?
    • People come for either camaraderie or recognition and the AP doesn't excel at either one
    • A large number of people identified with online recognition, even more than print
    • If we increase our online recognition, focus on more social events and create specific meaningful recognition events we can increase the social intereactions while recognizing our supporters.

    • Online recognition after the fundraising deadline

    • Recognize online and at kickoff
  • 11. Leadership Volunteers (committees, task forces, etc...)
    • May celebration dinner with staff and volunteer appreciation
    • Nice dinner with awards presentation
  • 12. Sponsors & Teams
    • June recognition breakfast/luncheon with boss or business leader
    • Online recognition
    • Letter to CEO, Boss, HR of team company in recognition of team support and team captain leadership
  • 13. Fall Kickoff
    • Memorial Park or Discovery Green
    • Combine with registration launch
    • 10-6pm with a rolling script to recognize high level award recipients and official ceremony at 6:30
    • Live music, sponsors, bike stores and other partners
    • Combine with team captain meeting "team captain open house" with team, safety and fundraising stations
    • Could incentivize sponsors to commit early for additional exposure

    • October - Kick-off (registration, recognition, build excitement and social opportunities)
    • November – Announce Club 300 & Top Fundraisers, New Team Captain meeting, Club 300 Social, 3500+ Social
