Introduction<br />What is the Texas STaRChart?<br />Texas School Technology and Readinessor STaR<br />Created by the Texas Education Agency Educational Technology Advisory Committee (ETAC) <br />Helps schools and districts evaluate their progress as part of the Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020<br />Survey is done annually<br />

  • 5. Furr High School Findings 2006-2008<br />

Teaching &amp; Learning<br />This area has seen improvement since 2005<br />Increased the use of technology in the classroom and content area connection<br />Remain low on online learning <br />Need to create a plan and implement it for online learning and offer professional development.<br />
  • 7. Educator Preparation &amp; Development<br />Furr has not made significant improvement in this category from 2005 -2008.<br />They need to offer and encourage technology professional development among their teachers.<br />
  • 8. Leadership, Administration, &amp; Instructional Support<br />In this category, Furrimproved from 2005 to 2006, but by 2008 had slipped back to developing. <br />Main areas for concern were planning, budgeting, and leadership and support for online training<br />Focus on planning and budgeting as the backbone to the success of implementing the technology.<br />

Infrastructure for Technology<br />During the 2005 - 2007, they were able to reduce the amount of amount of students per computer <br />Did not reduce the number during 2007-2008. <br />Students per computer, technical support, and distance learning tend to be their lower ratings<br />Overall, this category has been advanced from 2005-2008 and has been one of their stronger categories.<br />
