  2. 2. Study the rules Contest Mechanics <ul><ul><li>Articles must be at least 300 words, in English or Filipino. </li></ul></ul>

  4. 4. <ul><ul><li>Articles must contain links to online sources as a method of reference. </li></ul></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Reference: </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><ul><li>Stories must have at least three independent sources </li></ul></ul>
  7. 8. <ul><ul><li>Finished articles must incorporate multimedia content and must contain at least one photo. Sources for media (URLs) must be placed at the bottom of the article. </li></ul></ul>
  8. 9. <ul><ul><li>Articles must be observant of the rules of copyright (no plagiarism, sources must be credited). </li></ul></ul>
  9. 10. <ul><ul><li>Contestants will compose their articles on Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or other word processing programs. Finished articles will be rendered to PDF and will be uploaded to http://www.thepoc.net (PDFs will also be available online for judging purposes). </li></ul></ul>
  10. 11. <ul><ul><li>Contestants will be given one hour to research and write their articles. A maximum of 30 minutes will be given for contestants to lay-out their articles and incorporate media. </li></ul></ul>
  11. 12. <ul><ul><li>Articles in Word format will be submitted to contest administrators/proctors, who will render documents as PDF and will upload them to the website. Judging will be done based on PDFs & uploaded articles. </li></ul></ul>

Criteria for judging <ul><ul><li>Writing – 60% </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Voice (The article's slant and how the angle is presented) – 25% </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Style/Composition (How the article is constructed, flow of ideas) – 25% </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Grammar/Spelling – 10% </li></ul></ul></ul>
  14. 15. <ul><ul><li>Web Savvy (Hyperlinks, use of multimedia, diversity/reliability of sources chosen) – 30% </li></ul></ul>
  15. 16. <ul><ul><li>Layout of the article on the page/screen – 5% </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Overall impact – 5% </li></ul></ul>
