The Mistakes<br />Social marketing has become littered with spammers, advertisers and marketers alike.<br />The mistakes which plague the newest form of marketing are as follows:- Your market wants to be marketed to- People are waiting for your offer- It’s open game to scatter your marketing message throughout the social communities and forums.<br />

The Results<br />People are garded and becoming steril to marketing messages<br />Real offers and solutions are going unnoticed<br />People are beginning to protect access to their thoughts and conversations<br />Marketers are losing or not making profit as a result of treating their market like cattle.<br />

  7. 7. Determine Your Worth<br />If asked by another, who are you to your community and what do you have to offer, what would be your answer?<br />

The diet and weightloss community struggles with obesity, poor health and difficulty dieting and losing weight.- Along with these struggles, the lack of self-confidence and depression tend to be an issue.<br />
  9. 9. Determine Your Worth<br />Knowing the obstacles of your community, how could you turn these into objectives with a solution to their pain?<br />Ex. Our community provides a solution to help others to realize their self-worth and to see the happiness that currently exists in their lives. After this realization is met, the community works together to find a solution to better health, easier to obtain results and a managable diet.<br />

Joel Therien and the 7 Minute Workout<br />Joel has a solid history as a personal trainer and physical therapist.<br />He’s spent the past 15 years as a network marketer and the owner of a large internet service company.<br />Realizing his own struggles with health and fitness, Joel leveraged the Internet and his team of skilled marketers to provide people with the 7 minute workout.<br />Joel did this by first telling his community and then rewarding his community for telling others.<br />

Gather Intel and Collateral<br />Be sure to save your findings of the forums and news<br />Gather affiliate links for different information products on and throughout other websites you have found<br />Begin the strategy of conversation through what you find in Yahoo answers, forums and other social communities<br />

You are not going to promote products in the forums.<br />You are simply going to introduce yourself in any community welcome area.<br />Look for topics you can contribute to in the threads<br />Seek out answers to any questions you may see and provide the answers.<br />Once you have done this and have had active conversations with people, it is time to develop a common place<br />

  46. 46. The Common Place<br />Facebook has become a common place for most people online.<br />Although, many marketers have been abusing it.<br />But, Facebook does give us groups we can create and invite people to.<br />

U.S. Organic Gardening<br />Notice the geographic location and the keyword of the community<br />After you have had ample time in the forums, learning the language of your community, add your Facebook group link to your signature in the forums<br />
  48. 48. WARNING<br />Never blatantly promote your group in forum discussions. Trust me when I say, it is frowned upon.<br />BUT… people DO click on links in signatures and when they see it is a group in a place they trust, developed specifically to meet their needs… they will click and join<br />Consider this as you are meeting the needs of your community by delivering messages in the way they like to receive it!<br />

Action Steps<br />Begin conversations, now, in your Facebook group but, continue discussions in the forum as well<br />In your private group, send them to great articles, videos and more that you find on the internet (in your research) and ask them their thoughts, questions and responses.<br />Allow your community to flourish, while you are now positioned as the leader.<br />

Action Steps<br />Develop a WordPress blog, hosted on your own server, geared toward the purpose of contributing more value to your community.<br />Always end each blog post with asking them to leave a response and continue the conversation in your community<br />Also, provide them with a link to sign up on your newsletter where you will be contributing private content JUST for THEIR Facebook group!<br />

Actions<br />Once on your mailing list, send out a regular daily broadcast of a topic of discussion in the facebook group… sending them to the group link.<br />In the P.S. line of the email, tell them to look at “this link” and that it will be helpful.<br />“this link” refers to one of your affiliate or product links<br />This form of marketing is inobtrusive and is simply a by the way to help them<br />Also, be sure to post a “By the Way” in amongst your Facebook group posts<br />

Final Thoughts<br />This is Social Marketing on the highest level of community building and content marketing<br />True social networking is showing you have the desire to contribute yourself to your community while making it clear you will make offers.<br />Your community will decide to purchase from you when they have grown to know you.<br />Relationships come before the trust in business<br />

Is This Enough to Run a Business<br />Absolutely not.<br />Do not walk away from this workshop thinking this is the only thing you need to do in business.<br />This is simply a social marketing strategy that is very effective in gaining the attention of your market place and growing your list.<br />It is not to be seen as a replacement for true business skills that are needed to run a profitable and growing business.<br />
