Here is my attempt to explain in short fashion what the Bible has to tell us about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, complete with my own short testimony of who God “zapped” me in as a Marine Lieutenant in Japan in 1973. God wants to fill us all again and again with His Spirit so we can be powerful and fruitful witnesses for Him here and around the world.

Pray for God to fill you again and to baptize you with His Spirit if you have never experienced that.

    • The Baptism of the Holy Spirit The Father’s Promised Gift to His Children
    • Promised Gift & Gift Giver Mark 1:8, "I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."! • Acts 1:4-5: Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me…for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” • ACTS 2:38: Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. • HOLY SPIRIT mediates all the other gifts of God to us that Jesus won on Calvary: eternal life, sonship, membership in the Body of Christ, ministry gifts, fresh personal revelation, etc. ““
    • IN, ON,IMMERSE, FILL Jer. 31 & 33: “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah…33 “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; Joel 2:28: “It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions. ! John 14:17-18: “that is the Spirit of truth…He abides with you and will be in you. 18"I will not leave you as orphans; ! 1Cor. 6:19: "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you…?
    • To Imitate Jesus ACTS 1:8 “…but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Baptism of Spirit: Like spinach to Popeye. If a movie: “Honey, I Supercharged the Kids” ! JUST LIKE JESUS: ACTS 10:38: “You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
    • A Promise & Command John 14:12: “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.” {to send the Spirit into each} Matt.10: 5-8: “These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them… 7 And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.” Matt 28:18-20:” “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe ALL that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
    • Five Times in Acts • 2:4: “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. [ • 8:14-17: “Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. For He had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit.” 15  16  17
    • Five Times in Acts • 9:17: “ So Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying   his hands on him said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” " • 10:44-48: “While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered, “Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?” And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days. [a] 46  47  48
    • Five Times in Acts • 19:6:  “And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying.” ( Ephesian Believers) • Many Fillings: “ And do not get drunk with wine, for that   [a] is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, {CHOICE} speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ. 21 [d] [c] [e]
    • After Pentecost • A bunch of scared, uneducated, blue-collar workers with no influence, dubious reputations and even women began a movement that rocked their world. 3000 converted that day. In 300 years, the entire Roman empire would declare Jesus as the Lord of all its people. • This Baptism of the Spirit filled them with courage, wisdom and power to do the three main works of Jesus: preach, heal and deliver from demons. • Deliverance was an evangelistic tool ( Michael Green)
    • My Story • 1973 in Iwakuni, Japan, felt like a failure, baptism of love, spiritual vision in Tokyo. • More peace, love and joy than ever knew • Friends and wife saw the change • No tongues until 2 years later • Loved being with God. Longed to hike in San Gabriel Mt to commune with Him • More love, courage, peace, ability to sense God's leading, later inner healing ministries, prophetic words, words of knowledge & wisdom
    • Now • Any testimonies? • Pray for Holy Spirit to fall on us again • Expect to have an experience with the Holy Spirit • Continue to seek to be filled every day • Tune into God in every situation. He is there waiting to communicate with you. Ask Him questions!
