Installing windows 7Professional OEM Forget about Windows XP
Step 1: Back it all up! There are a couple options for backing up personal data from your computer:
CD or DVD
External Hard drive
Flash drive
Just remember… Since we are going from Windows XP to Windows 7, you cannot upgrade. Only if you have Windows Vista, will it allow you to upgrade without losing data. Also, obtain drivers for any outdated software, especially your wireless Internet adapter. Check your wireless adapter website for the drivers. Vista drivers are good on Windows 7. Save those drivers!
Step 2: Insert DVD and Go Follow each step on the installation DVD to install Windows 7. The total installation of Windows 7 should take less than an hour, depending on speed of your computer. Fast! Slow
Step 3: Start it up! Take your files and transfer them back to the computer once the installation has finished. Next, re-install all software and drivers. Then become familiar with all the new features Windows 7 has to offer. Notice, it’s a lot cooler than Windows XP!
Now you have Windows 7 Pro! Congratulations! You made the right choice!
