    Flowers are the parts of plants that make the seeds for reproduction
  • 5. Seeds
    Allow the plants to reproduce
    (Make more plants that are the same)
  • 6. Roots
    Grip the plant to the soil
    Absorb water and nutrients from the soil
    Stores food for the plant
  • 7. STEM
    Support the leaves and flowers
    Carry water and food to different parts of the plant
  • 8. Leaves
    Leaves are responsible for photosynthesis, respiration, and transpiration
  • 9. How does a plant grow?
  • 10. Photosynthesis
  • 11. Transpiration
    Water molecules evaporate into the atmosphere
    This is how the plant is able to stay alive, if there is not enough water, the plant will die
  • 12. Respiration
    Plants breath in Carbon Dioxide (C02) and breath out oxygen
    Humans breathe in oxygen and breathe out CO2
  • 13. What do we need to plant a flower?
    A pot
    Seed
    Soil
    Water
    Sunlight
  • 14. Step by step- follow along
    1st: Gather your materials
    2nd: Place your pot in front of you
    3rd: Write your name on your pot with permanent marker
    4th: Fill your pot ¾ full with soil
    5th: Pour the seed packet into the soil
    6th: Pour the rest of the soil over the seeds, to the top of the pot
    7th: Sprinkle water over your plant
  • 15. What to do for the next week
    Make sure that your plant is on the window seal
    Water on a daily basis
    Once your flower has grown you may take it home
