  3. 3. BlueViaThe noble aim of staying in touch with our mums, even if they are not on Twitter, inspired the idea forTuiteamadres. The application uses the BlueVia SMSAPI to merge Twitter with text and is available in UK,México, Argentina, Chile and Colombia. It takes just three steps to set-up: the user entersa twitter handle, the mother’s mobile numberand then her country from the supported list (UK,Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Mexico at launch).Once done, each tweet tagged with #himum willappear on her handset as a text message. Theuser, not the mother, is the account holder whogets charged for each text message sent to themother. The best part is that the developer earns aslice of the revenue from all of the messages sent. This revenue encourages the developer to investfurther in improving the service. And it’s not just formothers! A user can copy Tweets to any nominatednumber, perhaps a husband, wife or even a boss-!?

Whether connecting with a mum or someone else, Tuiteamadres allowsboth parties to stay in touch via their natural communication habits. After all, Twitter and Text use the samenumber of characters: 140. “What I enjoyed the most about creating this service, thanks to the BlueVia capabilities, is creating the opportunity to join two different communication worlds in only one service”
  5. 5. BlueViaBlueVia and TuiteamadresThe application uses the BlueVia SMS API, which not only avoids charging the developer for its usage, butactually generates revenue for the developer each time someone uses the service. The charge for sendingtexts from the application is added directly to the Movistar/O2 user’s monthly telephone bill at a rate similarto normal local rates. “One of the main advantages of using BlueVia is that I can mix different business models to monetize the application from complimentary revenue streams, such as advertising or subscription. Not only can I use the API without charge, it offers me the chance to get a share of the revenues whilst reaching a large number of users across Telefonica. If it succeeds, I will also receive recurring revenues, taking me beyond the traditional downloads business model.”This really simple, yet affective, application has been created from start to finish in only three weekends.
