For a macro-language such as Chinese, the included dialects have attained the level of an individual language in practice. They all face the danger of digital extinction, even though the number of native speakers of each dialect is larger than most of the other languages in the world. Locale settings for some of them have been submitted to GLIBC and released with the new version. For other chinese dialects and non-sinitic languages, more effort is needed to make the first step.
