  • 1. 2 Corinthians 13 The Temple at Corinth The witness of Anna
  • 2. Luke 2:36-38 36 Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity;
  • 3. 37 and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
  • 4. 38 And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
  • 5. What do we know of Anna?
  • 6. 2 Corinthians 13 The Temple at Corinth a. Her name: means GRACE or FAVOR.
  • 7. 2 Corinthians 13 b. A prophetess – she was a SPOKESPERSON for the living God .

      • Father: Phanuel means FACE of GOD
      • She was of the tribe of Asher.
      • e. She was of “great age”.
      • f. She was a widow of 84 years.

      • g. Her choice: to live in the SERVICE of GOD.

  • 15. b. She gave THANKS
  • 16. c. She bore WITNESS
  • 17. REFLECTION 1. The heart of Christmas is the message of REDEMPTION.
  • 18. REFLECTION 2. The response we have to this message is one of THANKS AND PRAISE.

    • Like Anna, don’t stop at just giving thanks.
    • Make a commitment to TELL SOMEONE about the message of redemption.
