  2. 2. <ul><li>English cuisine is shaped by the country's temperate climate, its geography, and its history . </li></ul><ul><li>Traditional meals have ancient origins, such as bread and cheese, roasted and stewed meats, meat and game pies, and freshwater and saltwater fish. </li></ul>
  3. 3. TRADITIONAL CUISINE <ul><li>The Sunday Roast includes roast potatoes accompanying a roasted joint of meat such as roast beef, lamb, or a roast chicken and assorted vegetables. </li></ul><ul><li>It consists of roast beef, roast potatoes, vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. </li></ul><ul><li>Fish and chips is the classic English take-away food and is the traditional national food of England. The fish (cod, haddock, huss, plaice) is deep fried in flour batter and is eaten with chips. Traditionally, the fish and chips are covered with salt and malt vinegar. Now-a-days small wooden forks are provided and the fish and chips are wrapped in more hygienic paper. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>The English breakfast also remains a culinary classic. Its consists of a combination of bacon, grilled tomatoes, fried bread, black pudding, baked beans, fried mushrooms, sausages, eggs and other variations on these ingredients and others. </li></ul><ul><li>Pies , originally a way to preserve food, have long been a mainstay of English cooking. Meat pies are generally enclosed with fillings such as chicken and mushroom or steak and kidney, Pork pies are almost always eaten cold with the Melton Mowbray pork pie being the archetype. </li></ul><ul><li>The Cornish pasty is a much-loved regional dish, constructed from pastry is folded into a semi-circular purse </li></ul><ul><li>Another kind of pie is topped with mashed potato—for instance, shepherd's pie, with lamb, cottage pie , with beef, or fisherman's pie. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Bangers are a type of sausage common to the UK. They may sometimes be called British Bangers. Bangers are white in appearance, and are composed primarily of pork, a small amount of breadcrumbs, and water. </li></ul><ul><li>Sandwiches are a widely popular type of food. They generally contain a combination of salad vegetables, meat, cheese, and a variety of sauces . </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>A kipper is a whole herring, an oily fish, that has been split from tail to head, gutted, salted, and cold smoked. </li></ul><ul><li>Yorkshire Pudding is made from flour, eggs and milk, is a sort of batter baked in the oven and usually moistened with gravy. </li></ul><ul><li>Bubble & Squeak is made from cold vegetables that have been left over from a previous meal, often the Sunday roast. </li></ul>
