    • Has emerged as a key issue in teaching and teacher education.
    • Teachers at all levels seek ways to integrate these two.
    • The goal of content integration is to expand the curriculum by incorporating contributions of diverse cultures which is easily realized through technology.
  • 3.
    • Teachers at all levels use the worldwide web to extend the available learning resources.
    • Teachers cautiously hope to make the best use of technology to provide high quality schooling for all students.
    • Electronic mail and multimedia technologies promote communication and interactions between diverse groups with the purpose of helping students learn more about content areas they study in.

    • In schools where such updates of technology have occurred, teachers are making widespread use of the internet and other computer based technology.
    • The knowledge and skills students acquire in these schools are typically reinforced by the availability of computers and internet accesses in their homes.
  • 5.
    • Teacher educators are being called upon to use technology to promote and reinforce the knowledge construction process (Cummins and Sayers, 1996; Kellner, 1998)
    • Acquiring facility in knowledge construction is understanding the perspectives of others and from this end, teachers are making use of the internet technology to promote more critical engagement with subject matter. (Degarcia and McGlynn, 1999)
  • 6.
    • Multimedia presentations and distance learning technologies are being used to establish learning exchanges between students of diverse cultural backgrounds which reduces prejudice and stereotyping.
    • Likewise, technology is used to promote positive self-concept and foster positive relationships between students from diverse backgrounds and diverse geographic areas.

    • Extensive use of technology provides access to higher education where online courses are being offered to those students who have been historically excluded from such opportunities.
    • Various efforts are underway to merge multicultural education and technology.
