  • 4. Active Note-taking RED: STOP and pay close attention. Anything in RED is critical information. Copy the exact information. YELLOW: Pay attention. Anything in YELLOW is useful information. Paraphrase in YOUR OWN WORDS. GREEN: Read and GO on to the next point. You do not have to write anything in green.
  • 5. Announcements & lis ten St op
  • 6. BEGINNING OF CLASS Walk QUIETLY to your desk. Sharpen pencils if needed. On desk at all times: • pen/pencil • highlighters • Handouts Copy HW into Agenda and review notes until the town crier rings the bell.
  • 7. Dear book Take out your DEAR book and read when you finish a class assignment, test, or quiz early.
  • 8. Discussion & Debate One person speaks at a time. Be an Active Listener. Add to the discussion, take notes &/or write questions.
  • 9. Dismissal Do Not pack up until the teacher dismisses class. Tidy your area, return supplies, throw out trash, and recycle papers before leaving.
  • 10. Getting Your Attention When the teacher rings the LIBERTY BELL: Stop, face the teacher, and listen.
  • 11. I NEED TO LEAVE THE ROOM TO VISIT THE NURSE OR RESTROOM. Please sign out.
  • 12. I NEED SUPPLIES . Sign the unprepared log BEFORE Borrowing class supplies.
  • 13. I HAVE A QUESTION . I WANT TO PARTICIPATE .
  • 14. Passing Papers Pass ACROSS rows. Each student takes one DO NOT & places the rest pass hand to hand. on the desk next to her/him. The procedure is reversed for passing in papers.
  • 15. Recycling & Trash Recycle paper or throw out RECYCLE trash all BEFORE or paper AFTER products. class NEVER DURING.
  • 16. Sharpen Pencils Please sharpen pencils before or after class NEVER during. If you need a writing utensil during class ask a peer quietly or use hand signal to get supplies from classroom bins.
  • 17. Testing Procedures GROUND RULES: Keep eyes Study Tools and up on own pa pers. to 5 Bleu Bucks are If you are caught talk due the day of the ing: 1 st time… test/quizzes –5 points 2 nd time… –10 points You may NOT go to 3 rd time… –15 points your locker for Bleu Bucks or Study Tools. Did you finish the test/quiz? FLIP IT OVER, take out dear book, & REMAIN SEATED.
  • 18. Town Crier When the town crier rings the liberty bell: FREEZE & put pens/pencils down. Face the town crier and listen attentively. Follow directions.
  • 19. Turning in Assignments Place ALL assignments in your class period’s MAILBOX. Do NOT turn in assignments to the teacher or place on the teacher’s desk.
  • 20. Visitors & Guest Speakers Greet the visitor or guest speaker. “Hello” works. Be an Active Listener. Please do not fidget. Keeping your hands folded will help.
