My name is Debon Stotts. I will be one of three foreign English teachers here at Bin Jiang Elementary. I will be teaching in the English Village and my primary focus will be in the Restaurant. Now, to tell you a little about myself.
I am from The United States of America. I live in the state of Arkansas. Arkansas is where former President Bill Clinton was born. I live in the city of Fayetteville, which is about 3 hours from his birthplace.
Fayetteville is also Home of the Razorbacks. Their mascot is the Razorback. This school attracts people from all of the world.
My family consists of my mother, older sister, and younger sister.
I am also close to my nephews, niece, and cousins. They live all over the United States.
My house and car are frequently used to accommodate my players and friends that need a place to stay. I live in a safe neighborhood that is about 3 miles from my school.
Before moving to Fayetteville, Arkansas, I lived in Memphis Tennessee. Memphis is where Graceland is located. Graceland is the home of Elvis Presley.
In Memphis, I went to school at LeMoyne-Owen College. At LeMoyne-Owen College, I received a B.S. in Biology and was awarded Miss Senior of my class. I also took part in an internship at The Memphis Redbirds Baseball Stadium. The Redbirds are The Triple A affiliate for the St. Louis Cardinals.
I moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2003 and began working two jobs. My primary job is at Ramay Junior High School. The principal there is Matt Saferite and our school mascot is the Indian.
At Ramay, I teach girls PE and coach volleyball, basketball, track, and archery. I have been doing this for 4 years now and yes, I am exhausted at the end of the day.
My secondary job is called Youth Bridge Agency, Inc. There I work with at-risk teenage boys and girls that have issues with drugs, theft, discipline, or have an unsafe home environment. These teens come from all over the state of Arkansas. At Youth Bridge, we teach the teens social skills, independent living skills, decision making skills, and get them used to learning about positive things that they can do in their environment.
I attend St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas. My pastor is Rev. Curtiss Smith. At St. James, I sing in the morning service and help in the nursery during the afternoon service. I participate in church plays, prayers, and celebrations whenever I can.
Aside from school, work, and church, I am a part of a sorority called Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
The sorority focuses on finer womanhood, sisterly love, scholarship, and community service. Each year we hold a scholarship pageant that aides the young ladies with college funding.
And in my spare time, I like to play the Wii, listen to music, read books, participate in Tae Kwon Do, and …….
Relax with my friends.
I would like to thank you guys for accepting me into your school. I promise to teach and learn all that I can.
