Passover Seder

  3. 3. Cleansing from Leaven <ul><li>Cleansing homes of leaven going on for 3500 years </li></ul><ul><li>Leaven represents sin: </li></ul><ul><li>“ For 7 days…eat nothing made with yeast. Wherever you live,…eat unleavened bread.” (Exodus 12: 19-20) </li></ul><ul><li>Man of house goes inspecting for leaven crumbs </li></ul><ul><li>A physical sign of a spiritual truth: deal with sin in your life: </li></ul><ul><li>“ Don’t you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough? Get rid of the old yeast…For Christ, our Passover Lamb has been sacrificed. Therefore, let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.” (1 Corinthians 5:6-8) </li></ul>

Blessing of Candles <ul><li>The woman of the house lights candles </li></ul><ul><li>Represents “the seed of a woman” </li></ul><ul><li>“ So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you…I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” (Genesis 3:15) </li></ul><ul><li>Woman prays and lights candles: </li></ul><ul><li>“ Blessed are you O Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us through faith in Jesus the Messiah, the Light of the World and in His Name we kindle the Passover lights.” </li></ul>
  5. 5. FOUR CUPS OF WINE (Seder ceremony is centred on the four cups of the fruit of the vine.) CUPS STAND FOR THE FOUR PROMISES OF GOD IN EXODUS 6:6-7 <ul><li>A. Cup of Sanctification </li></ul><ul><li>“ I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.” </li></ul><ul><li>B. Cup of Judgement </li></ul><ul><li>“ I will rid you out of their bondage.” </li></ul><ul><li>C. Cup of Redemption </li></ul><ul><li>“ I will redeem you with outstretched arms.” </li></ul><ul><li>D. Cup of Praise & Hope </li></ul><ul><li>“ I will take you to me for a people.” </li></ul>
