Workforce Strategy<br />Growth most evident in bio-manufacturing<br />Companies moving to and expanding in Ohio<br />All have problems in recruiting a skilled workforce at all levels<br />Our emphasis has been to build a strong community college bioscience infrastructure to provide entry level development & manufacturing workforce<br />Other states have done similar with great success<br />

Ohio Bioworkforce Industry Preparedness Project<br />3 year program, funded through US-DOL<br />Awarded $5 million<br />Started March 1, 2010<br />Objective is to train 700 unemployed, displaced and underemployed workers, and find them jobs within Ohio’s bioscience industry. Special emphasis on displaced autoworkers <br />Applicants can select from a range oftraining programs depending on interests and aptitude<br />More than half of the award, $2.8 million kept for tuition reimbursement / scholarships<br />
