PanelView Downloading Using RS Linx Drivers

To access RSLinx: click the Start button, click Programs , click Rockwell Software , click RSLinx submenu and select RSLinx . . or in PanelBuilder32, click File>Workstation Setup .

Clicking the device driver in the RSWho active screen will display the active equipment. If you have red X’s through the devices this means that the PC cannot see the device. Check your cables, ensure power is on the devices. The most stable RS232 driver is the DF1 driver, the AB PIC driver is not stable and is hard to get to work.

To configure a driver. Click Communications. Add New Find the driver in this case RS 232 DF1, click on it. Then simply click on AUTO-CONFIGURE.

The above shows a AB1200 successfully connected. Before trying to do any downloads ensure that RS Linx can see the device. This is the most difficult part of any project, establishing communications.

PanelView Validating

To download a PanelView application, click FILE, Download. If your application has no error, and only warnings click Yes. It is common to have text boxes overlap etc… Not to worry.

The PanelBuilder32 program will automatically open RS Linx. Click on the driver you have already established. Once you see the actual PanelView screen, with no red X. Click OK.

Monitoring the progress of a download or upload Monitoring the progress of a download or upload When downloading and uploading applications, a dialog opens so that you can monitor the progress of the transfer. Download Tasks area monitors each step performed during the transfer and shows the current task. Status area shows any errors that occur during the transfer. You can double-click on any error to get help. Progress bar shows the progress of the transfer in terms of percentage complete.
