Slide 1: A new Deal for Europe Broadband for everybody for a better living (and education)
Slide 2: As Pdt F. Roosevelt does With the Tennesse Valley Authority in 1933.. To bring electricity in the country 10 billions US $/year until the 2d world war To stop the 1929’ big economic crisis…
Slide 3: The situation today is quite different, but… We have oil and fossil energies crisis in perspective… The problems of « durable environment » (warming climate..) And the Revolution 3.0… So, Human Beings would have some probems in the next futur…
Slide 4: The 3d Revolution of Human Beings After the Revolution 1.0 (Agriculture, 10.000 years ago, in Near Orient) After the Revolution 2.0 (Industry, 300 years ago in Europe – UK is in Europe, isn’t it ?) Human Beings are starting the Revolution 3.0
Slide 5: No name at the moment for this new Revolution based on : … Nanotechnologies… …Humanoïd Robot …Renewable Energies …Synthetic Biology ….
Slide 6: Between Revolution 1.0 and 2.0 nothing happens Perhaps some « frictional » problems between english, french and german people and other tribes on the Earth… Nothing happens, except the « first Bill Gates » : Johannes Gutenberg (1456)… Printing change the World, the spread of knowledge, the quantity of knowledge, the education of Human Beings…
Slide 7: And between the 2.0 and 3.0 Revolution Internet would be the « modern printing » And broadband Internet, based on fiber optic end to end, would be marvellous … for the different activities of Human Societies (commerce, entertainment, communication, health… ) AND EDUCATION – Why ?
Slide 8: Human Beings brain… 100 billions of neurons… and each one has 1.000 connexions with others… That’s a marvellous thing (thanks to God…), but…
Slide 9: But it’s not the « panacea ». Why ? Because HB ’ brain doesn’t quickly understand complex problem, abstraction, … We would need more neurons…
Slide 10: That the problem for education So what we have to do ? Very simple…
Slide 11: Build interactive 3D applications Why ? Because if you interact yourself with/inside a process (real or virtual), you retain much more than if you’re listened some one with a piece of chalk on a blackboard… THAT’S THE KEY for e-education …
Slide 12: For that we need 2 things… Interactive 3D applications And broadband for delivering that to universities, schools, homes (interactive 3D needs broadband – 100 megabits/s and more – (same thing for commerce, communication, health, ….) Suggestion :
Slide 13: Building the 3d Millenium University I suggest Europe would be « the melting pot » for that (we suppose english, french, german… resolve their traditional historical problems)…
Slide 14: A new Deal for Europe As President Roosevelt does in 1933 in United States… We do the same thing in Europe to build this University .. Bring fiber to every European (as in Japan..) Create public/private partnerships to carry through interactive 3D applications If not... Our european Futur is compromised… in the Revolution 3.0
Slide 15: Many projects outside… MIT with opencourseware (87.000 on line courses) CORE : China opencourseware with 44 chinese universities Global Education Learning Community, a fondation of Scott McNelly… So, what we do ?
Slide 16: Many thanks for your attention… and good luck in the Futur 3.0… My email : jmbillaut@yahoo.fr My blog/videoblog : http:// billaut.typepad.com Skype : billaut
