    • Genetic Regulator Opens New Avenues to AIDS, Immune System ResearchANDHow T Cells Make a Commitment
      Daniel Becerra Uribe
      Medicine Student
      III semeter
    • Introduction
Bcl11b in a genetic regulator which is critical to many life functions also plays a key role in the formation of T cells.
This could be a target for drug development, and could open the door to new immune system-based therapies for everything from diseases of T cells, such as HIV/AIDS, to autoimmune disorders and allergies.

Ctip2 it's a protein that controls gene "expression," or what aspects of a cell's genetic code will be turned on and which will be left silent …
… Is a master regulator of gene expression.
    • Geneticregulator opens new avenuesto AIDS, immunesystemresearch
Ctip2 is not expressed in every cell, but plays essential roles in several different organs.
Ctip2 helps regulate the complicated process that ends up creating T cells.
    • Geneticregulator opens new avenuesto AIDS, immunesystemresearch
Ctip2 is essential in the creation of teeth, brain cells, the formation of skin, and T cells.
    • Studentobservation
This is a very important research because it gives us clues about new possibilities for the treatment of many diseases and some ways to take control of genetic mistakes .

The activation of Bcl11b is a perfect indicator of when cells have decided to go on the T-cell pathway.
      • The gene is a repressor. This is crucial for T cells, because T cells are derived from multipotent hematopoietic stem cells.
    • Hoy T cellsmakes a commitment
T cells have a remarkable ability to grow and Bcl11b is a long-sought part of that mechanism.
T cells have a remarkable ability to grow and Bcl11b is a long-sought part of that mechanism.
    • Hoy T cellsmakes a commitment
When de T cells are changing they are expressing a variety of genes that give them the option to become other cells, such as mast cells, killer cells, and antigen-presenting cells
    • StudentObservation
I think this is a very interesting research area because it allows us to observe the importance of transcription factors and provides valuable information about how only one gene can change some body life.
    • Medicalutility
The discovery of these genes control, will make possible advances in treating infectious diseases, genetic defects and cancer treatments, also create new treatments for autoimmune diseases.
    • Medicalutility
Research on genetic regulators has been of increasing interest in recent years because these proteins hold the key to which genes are expressed, instructing one cell to become a brain cell while another is directed to become a blood cell.
    • Medicalutility
With the control of this gene should be possible to develop drugs that decrease, increase or otherwise modify Ctip2 activity, and such drugs may be useful in the treatment of certain malignancies, such as leukemia, and skin cancers.
    • Medicalutility
This new finding about Ctip2 relationship to early events in T cell formation may be of substantial interest to immunologists and clinicians alike, because it will be usefull in the tratment and investigation about virus and alergic diseases.
