  • What is a Media Center?

  • WHAT ARE THE MEDIA CENTER RULES?
  • Respectful
    • Treat your books like a friend.
    • No pets.
    • No babies.
    • No water.
    • No cheesy cheeto fingers.
  • Responsible Get your books back on time. Take care of your books.
  • Reasonable
    • Use a reasonable voice level
  • The Comfy Corner You must have a book checked-out. Only 1 person per seat. Be reasonable.
  • In the Comfy Corner
    • No warnings.
    • You might find yourself taking a time out.
  • AR BOOKS
    • AR IS SHORT FOR “ACCELERATED READER.” AR BOOKS CAN BE FOUND IN ALL PARTS OF THE LIBRARY. THEY ARE MARKED WITH AN
    • ON THE BOOK SPINE.
    • THEY CAN BE FOUND IN ALL PARTS OF THE LIBRARY.
  • HOW LONG CAN I KEEP A BOOK?
    • ALL BOOKS CAN BE KEPT FOR
    • 1 WEEK--if you are in grades K-2 and
    • 2 WEEKS if you are in 3 rd , 4th or 5th grade
    • Most books can be checked out again if you are not finished within that time period.

    • WHAT ELSE WILL WE DO IN THE MEDIA CENTER?
    • WE WILL WORK ON THE COMPUTERS DOING RESEARCH, POWERPOINTS, AND OTHER PROJECTS.
    • AR TESTS CAN BE TAKEN DURING YOUR LIBRARY TIME.
    • PRESENTATIONS USING POWERPOINTS OR OTHER KINDS OF MEDIA.
  • WHAT WILL I NEED TO WORK ON THE INTERNET?
    • EACH STUDENT WILL NEED AN
    • INTERNET ACCESS AGREEMENT
    • SIGNED BY YOU AND YOUR PARENT! YOUR HOMEROOM TEACHER WILL GIVE YOU THE FORM. RETURN IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN ALL OUR PROJECTS!!
  • THIS IS THE FORM YOU AND YOUR PARENTS NEED TO SIGN

    • Each class can earn up to 3 stars per period.

  • FRIDAY DRAWING Excellent behavior in the Media Center will be rewarded with an award ticket. Drop your ticket in the Curious George bucket by the Smartboard for the Friday prize drawing. EACH WEEK THE WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON THE 3:03 NEWS!
    • WHAT KIND OF BOOKS CAN BE FOUND IN OUR LIBRARY/MEDIA CENTER?
  • EVERYBODY BOOKS
    • THESE BOOKS ARE FOUND UNDER THE WINDOWS AND ALONG PART OF THE WEST WALL.
  • FICTION BOOKS
    • FICTION BOOKS ARE FOUND ON THE SOUTH WALL AND PART OF THE WEST WALL.
  • PAPERBACKS PAPERBACK BOOKS ARE FOUND ON THE SHELVES UNDER THE LIBRARY OFFICE WINDOWS.
  • NON-FICTION BOOKS
    • Non-fiction books are found in the other room in the Media Center.
  • WHAT ARE THESE?
    • THESE ARE THE LIBRARY PADDLES THAT ARE USED TO MARK A BOOK’S HOME (OR PLACE) ON THE SHELF WHEN YOUR ARE BROWSING.
    Each book has an address.

    • You will find the AR level color code chart in various places around the library.

    • The exact level.
    • The test number
    • The point value.

  • HOW CAN I SEARCH FOR THE BOOK I WANT?

    • Go to Mrs. Webb’s eboard

    • CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES
  • CIRCULATION STATION
    • Wait for Mrs. Webb to call your group up
    • Say your 1st and last name
    • Have the barcode ready
  • How Many Books?
    • Kindergarten and 1st grade: 1 book
    • 2nd and 3rd grades: 2 books
    • 4th and 5th grades: 3 books
  • RETURNING A BOOK
    • THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO RETURN A BOOK:
    • YOUR TEACHER WILL HAVE A BASKET IN YOUR ROOM TO PUT YOUR BOOK IN WHEN YOU FINISH.
    • OR
  • 2. YOU MAY RETURN YOUR BOOK PERSONALLY TO THE LIBRARY -- PUT IT IN THE LIBRARY CART JUST INSIDE THE DOOR
