2. Todorov Todorov stated that films and programmes begin with an equilibrium, a calm period. Then disruption causes disequilibrium, a period of unsettlement . This is then followed by a renewed state of peace and a new equilibrium brings the chaos to an end.
3. Todorov This inspired me to start with everything normal, Emma begins the trailer seeming normal. But then we have the title that says something along the lines of “but it wasn’t so perfect” and this is when it all goes wrong, until the end of the trailer where everything goes back to a new “norm”.
4. Barthes & Enigma Codes Barthes said: "a galaxy of signifiers, not a structure of signifieds; it has no beginning; it is reversible; we gain access to it by several entrances, none of which can be authoritatively declared to be the main one; the codes it mobilizes extend as far as the eye can read, they are indeterminable...the systems of meaning can take over this absolutely plural text, but their number is never closed, based as it is on the infinity of language..."
5. Barthes & Enigma Codes But in ENGLISH, he means that we need to unravel a text, to reveal a puzzle or something that is a mystery to the audience. The “mystery” you have to unfold is called an enigma code In my film the “enigma code” will be Emma trying to find her husband, the audience will have to work out who he will be.
