Betclic Summer Team Building 2013

  1. 1. Summer Team Building 2013
  2. 2. Game #1: The Crevice • Invented by Olivier Soudieux, speaker and adventurer. Check his website http://www.vialaventure.fr/ • This game is about trust, team work, training to improve, see how others overcome difficulties to do it as well. 2
  3. 3. Game #1: The Crevice • Preparation – People in pairs – Inside, use Scotch tape. Outside, I used rope and tent pegs. – Create 2 parallel lines on the ground, separated by about 1,50m / 2 m. The zone between the 2 lines is the crevice. 3
  4. 4. Game #1: The Crevice • First Round – Each pair needs to move from one side of the crevice to the other, without falling into the crevice (the grey zone), while always touching hands (palms in contact, not crossing fingers). – If they fail, of course they can try again. 4 START FINISH
  5. 5. Game #1: The Crevice • Next Rounds – Now the finish side of the crevice will get wider. So this will force partners to lean on each other. – The idea is for each pair to decide how wide they suppose they can reach. – Each pair can make several attempts. If they succeed, they can try and get even wider and wider. – You can have a little competition and challenge the different pairs to have the widest crevice. 5 START FINISH
  6. 6. Game #1: The Crevice • Conclusion – During the game, you can show them the importance of trust (you have to lean heavily on your partner to get the best results). – Show them also how training and practice is key to better performance, and how watching others also allows you to improve. – The role of a coach is interesting as well. 6
  7. 7. Game #2: blind polygon • Preparation: – Number of participants from 4 to 8 – Blindfold for each participant – Rope (about 3 to 5 m) 7
  8. 8. Game #2: blind polygon • Rules: – Blind every participants, mix them up – Define a geometric shape that the participants need to form with the rope (square, star, 8 figure, or any other tricky shape) – When group members feel the task is completed, they can take off the blindfolds to check the results. 8
  9. 9. Game #2: blind polygon • Conlusion: – This game is about communication and teamwork in an environment where participants do not control and know everything. 9
