In this talk we will look at the role of the teacher in a 21st century student-centered learning environment, and in particular how this role can be powerfully enhanced with interactive technology such as IWBs. If modern classrooms are all about making learners more responsible for their own learning, what are the essential skills that every teacher needs to bring to that environment? How do we find the right teaching/learning balance? And what role can technology play in helping us find this balance?

  • Hi guest4faba18,

The presentation was given at the Sitech Champion Schools Conference in Napier New Zealand a few weeks ago. I got the images from Flickr (of course!) and they are all CC licenced images... the attributions can be found on the last page of the slides.

  • Hi gueste33fdc,

Not sure exactly what you're suggesting about Marzano's research... are you suggesting it was biased and untrue? There is a more detailed discussion about this happening over at www.iwbrevolution.com, where the Marzano stuff was posted and I know there are some Promethean guys who are members of the community over there. Suggest you raise the issue over there and ask for their response on the issue. I think you'll find that although Promethean had a hand in supplying impetus for the research that they'd be rather dismayed to think that you felt it was somehow rigged research.
