With a little understanding ofnetworks, this camera was simple to setup. It is very stable and has a rocksolid picture over Wi-Fi. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 isbecause of the audio quality. The Wi-Fi antenna causes a repetitive buzz inthe audio. Mounting the camera up side down or moving the antenna awayfrom the camera head removes some of the noise but not all of it. Thiscamera needs shielding between the audio circuitry and the CPU / Datacircuits. It is noisier than others when you turn it and it can be heard through theaudio loudly. As for picture quality, both in the dark and during the day it ispretty good for the price point. The picture in the dark is amazing, lights upthe whole room, does better than it states. (~16 feet or 5 meters). Thiscamera lights up brightly 20 feet away without adjusting brightness orcontrast. While it lacks the ability to use sound triggers for recording with their BlueIris software due to the internal noise and AGC circuitry, this is an amazingcamera for the price. Works very well using motion detection on maximumand doesnt give any false alarms due to picture instability or noise fromcompression. Uses about 2.5 Mb/s (megabits per second) Wi-Fi bandwidth. Most 802.11(G) routers will handle 21 Mb/s so you can put quite a few ofthese cameras on your Wi-Fi without much lag. Frame rate for me has beenabout 15-18 fps which is lower than advertised but still acceptable.

WolffMade in China. Ill explain below why this may be a serious issue. This camera works nicely. This is the second one Ive purchased to watch thecaregivers who give care to my elderly parents. The only software I have to operate it is what comes with it. The software isadequate, permitting me to view and record, with audio and timestamp, multiple cameras simultaneously. The camera operates easily from thesoftware, panning left-right and up-down. The camera can be focused for arange of distances, but only manually so far, since the default softwaredoesnt operate this. I dont know whether the focus can be operated bysoftware. When you install the camera, it is given a local IP address on your LAN. Theview/record software operates through your browser. However, withmultiple cameras, regardless of which IP address you enter, the softwareselects the first installed camera. You can then include additional cameras inmultiple view windows (4 or 9 simultaneously), but you cant view any singlecamera. Only the first camera can be viewed individually. The software controls, e.g., panning and recording, operate on any selectedcamera. The selected cameras image is highlighted with a yellow border. The other camera images are highlighted in white. This may be difficult todistinguish. When any one camera has been set to record, the record iconchanges to a stop icon. When any cameras audio has been enabled forrecording, the record icon changes to a stop icon. When another camera isselected, the icons remain in their stop appearance. So you cant tell fromthe icons the state of an individual camera. If you have turned timestamp onfor a camera, the timestamp appears at the bottom of that cameras image. The timestamp indicates "recording" and "audio", so you need to look at thetimestamp to see the state of each camera. If a camera isnt recording ordoesnt have its audio on, clicking the record and audio icons turnsrecording and audio on, even if the icons are in the stop position when youclick them. They dont affect recording or audio of unselected cameras. Ofcourse, when theyre in the stop position, you cant tell what function theyrepresent, because they just appear as a small square. You must rememberthe function of each icon by its position on screen.Four stars because I would like better software. Even if I had to buy

(As a computer engineer, Im considering writingmy own. But thats not my first choice. And it wont help anyone else whosconsidering buying this.)The camera can be given a WAN port for Internet access, e.g., view from acomputer, smart phone, or tablet via browser from anywhere in the world, ifyou know the public IP address, fixed at the factory, port number that youassign, username that you assign, and password that you assign.(Now, here its important to know that I am a computer engineer who hasdeveloped a variety of embedded electronic systems.) Engineers frequentlyinclude a so-called back door in their products especially fortroubleshooting. This isnt done maliciously, but can be used maliciously.Regardless of the alleged security of having you select a port, username, andpassword that no one else knows. it is possible that the camera has a backdoor that can be opened by anyone who knows the key. That key may beknown by anyone at the manufacturer. But also, anyone who buys one ofthese cameras can read the firmware and find the key. This means also that, if such a back door exists, it just wouldnt matter whatyou were doing with the camera, e.g., watching, recording, or even neitherwatching nor recording. As long as the camera is powered on and isconnected to your LAN and your LAN is connected to the Internet, it can beaccessed from the Internet. Even without a back door, it may be possible tohack into the camera, as well as any other device on your Internet-connectedLAN.I wouldnt worry too much about having this camera in an area where Iwouldnt be concerned about keeping my windows open to the world. But iwouldnt place this camera in any sensitive area.Oh, yeah. About the title for this review.dage means big brother in Chinese(approximate Mandarin pronunciation). :)3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.Wansview IP CameraBy kdmetalI bought this product to view my home in Florida while out of town. It seemsto be a very dependable camera but you better have some computerexpierence to hook this one up.
