Aim of this study
General aim of my thesis study is to evaluate AR technologies to
support industrial design practices. This way, I will be able to
propose how existing AR technologies can supplement the design
process in different stages.
AR applications have become very easy to access, and currently
there are lots of applications that can run even on computers,
tablets and smartphones to display 3D models, animation, sound,
2D visuals, and text. The potential of this technology should be
explored in a design education setting.
Therefore, I will give you brief information about augmented
reality and its application areas to inspire you about enriching your
industrial design process. After this presentation, I will kindly ask
you to look back on your final project in ID535 course and think
about how augmented reality could be implemented.

where you would have benefited from using a range of Augmented Reality
applications, e.g. to enhance the presentation of ideas, adding interactive content,
improve presentation, etc.
Please give specific examples to describe the ways that AR could have
supplemented the design process and enriched the output (You can describe by
making use of sketches, annotations etc.)
What stages of your chosen design projects do you think would have benefited
most from AR applications?
What kinds of design activities might you have accomplished with Augmented
Reality technologies if at the time you had access to the whole range of hardware
and/or software and solutions?
In future product design projects, what difficulties do you think you might face
when using Augmented Reality applications? (If you have already used any AR
