    • A wave will only travel as long as it has energy to transfer
    • Mechanical Waves: Waves that can only travel through a medium.
    • Kinds of mechanical waves:
      • Transverse waves: matter in a medium moves perpendicular to the motion of energy.
        • Ex: Waves in the ocean
        • Ex: Earthquakes
        • Ex: Visible light
        • Ex: An audience wave
      • Compressional Waves : matter in a medium moves parallel to the motion of energy.
        • Ex: Sound waves
        • Ex: Shock waves (explosions, earthquakes)
