YouTube allows businesses to access millions of viewers and gives small businesses a chance to educate, entertain and have fun with their customers. YouTube also becomes a platform for online customers to establish a relationship with the business through video.

  • 1. Social Media 101: YouTube Definition: YouTube is a video sharing website where users can upload, share, & view videos.
  • 2. YouTube: World Encompassing
    • YouTube launched its first video April 23, 2005.
    • Today YouTube is the 2 nd Largest Search Engine
    • YouTube is translated into 24 Languages & in 22 Countries
    • March 2010: 24 hours of video uploaded per minute= 34,560 hours of video every day- 1,440 days worth of video!
  • 3. YouTube: World Encompassing
    • May 2010: YouTube exceeds 2 billion views a day= doubles the prime-time audience of all 3 major U.S. broadcast networks combined.
    • More video is uploaded to YouTube in 60 days than all 3 major US networks created in 60 years.

    • Over 3 million people are connected and “auto-sharing” videos to at least one social network a day.

    • It’s Time to Broadcast Yourself!
    • People are watching, spreading the word, and actively seeking information.
    • Thousands of businesses have benefitted from YouTube.
    • YouTube is a FREE alternative channel that allows your customers to interact with your business on a whole new level.
    • Easiest way to reach millions of viewers who are actively looking for you.
    • Not all of the 34,560 hours of video are quality. When you broadcast yourself be creative and have quality video.

    • Stone Brewery created video brewery tours that have brought an additional 1,200 to 2,000 visitors per video.
  • 8. Show Me The $$$ Nike Soccer started creating video in 2005 and the channel now has over 45,386,352 views.
  • 9. Show Me The $$$ Charles Smith, a pottery artist, makes demonstration videos of creating pottery that have created over 92,000 views with 10% resulting in business.
  • 10. How Did They Do It?
    • Created Engaging Creative Videos:

    • Think Informational, Educational, or Entertainment value:
      • Make content that interacts- teach something, entertain, amaze or show off.
    • Created a medium to “meet online customers” & create brand loyalty through video connection.

Create your account Create a username : this is the name of your youtube channel, or how you will appear -When thinking of a username, we recommend sticking with the brand over just keywords. Ex. Nikesoccer, resortqueststeamboat, steamboatchamber -If you have an interesting business name that doesn’t obviously state what you are then add a word that will work. Ex. ChaosInk= youtube name: ChaosInkprinting
  • 12. Get Started! Create your account 1.Create a username: this is the name of your youtube channel, or how you can share video 2. You have an option to link your new YouTube account to the email address you prefer, such as your Gmail account.
  • 13. Customize your Channel, Account, Settings and business information Include your website or email Fill out your profile so people immediately know what kind of business you are.
  • 14. Create Video Then Upload To YouTube
    • Always Follow the Youtube Upload Guidelines.
    • Click the Upload link at the top of any YouTube page.
    • Click the Browse button to browse for the video file you'd like to upload to our site. Select the file you want to upload.
    • Click the Upload Video button to start the uploading process.
  • 15. Create Video Then Upload To YouTube
    • As the video file is uploading, enter as much information about your video as possible in the relevant fields including:
    • - Title
    • - Description
    • - Tags
    • - Category
    • You're not required to provide specific information, but the more information you include, the easier it is for users to find your video!
    • Click the 'Save changes' button to save the updates you've made to the video file.
  • 16. Video Searches: 1. Title is important! 2. Channel name is important! 3. Channel’s Playlists are also displayed.
  • 17. Manage Videos
    • Manage each video! Options to further edit a videos information, the viewing settings, add annotations, add captions and even add YouTube audio.
  • 18. YouTube Insight
    • Analytics allows you to see which videos are being watched, when, frequency and how the videos were found!
