    • Thomson contributions to IP-RACINE HDTV Cameras Breda
    • Viper In the beginning…… ….. there was VIPER, but the workflow was cumbersome and not well understood by everybody and then IP-RACINE came along and We started to work together with the European players active in DC
    • Viper What we did in IP-RACINE; For the VIPER camera we worked on VIPER colour characterisation with Filmlight and others Metadata solutions Recording solutions For the future we researched High bandwidth flexible transmission system Higher frame rates and mechanics
    • Viper VIPER unique characteristics – Maximum possible colour space from CCD sensors – All output from sensors available for storage – Straightforward operation, easier familiarity for film crews – Minimal use of menus and video style feature set – On-set preview of clips, including trialing of finished look – LuT can be applied and tested, while still on set – Compact and lightweight mechanical structure. – Camera can be placed in very confined spaces
    • Viper Metadata solutions – Viper outputs metadata direct to the HDSDI stream Follows the SMPTE standard, and remains with the stored material in to post production – User defined metadata can be entered separately, and is stored with each clip (assumes Venom recorder) Metadata can be entered via bluetooth transmission
    • Viper VENOM recording solution In IP-RACINE we complemented the VIPER camera with the Venom FlashPak: a complete, portable solution for digital cinematography content origination. Dockable, solid-state recorder No moving parts, compact, lightweight Creates a complete, portable production solution that is durable and rugged Extends the capabilities of the Viper FilmStream™ Digital Cinematography Camera System
    • Digital Cinematography, moving on When Viper was first introduced it was a radical departure from all that had gone before – Five years on it is still able to compete successfully and produce comparable results to the best new product available. We think that to offer a make-over for Viper would be a understate the Cinematography industry, and the product we can deliver – Its more sensible to stretch beyond and push the development further, – Flexing and stretching newer technologies to get the best from them – giving a better toolbox for the Cinematography Community with new features and major performance improvements
    • Viper Research: higher bandwidth transmission 10Gig Ethernet file based transmission has been researched for the future Enough bandwidth for all applications Reduce wiring Flexible: can carry all types of signals Send DPX files instead of video streams
    • Digital Cinematography, moving on Core items that are now of greatest interest – Dynamic range – Colour Space – Transmission methods and bandwidth – Storage No specific information is available at this time But please stay tuned
