Slide 2: Feb 21, 2008 Stanford University will give free tuition to most undergraduates whose families earn less than $100,000 a year. By Larry Gordon, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer February 21, 2008 Stanford University today announced a big boost in financial aid that would give free tuition to most undergraduates from families that earn less than $100,000 a year and a complete package of tuition, room and board to those whose household incomes are less than $60,000.
Slide 3: Mission The mission of Get Into Stanford is to help Houston-area middle- income high-potential high school students get into Stanford and take advantage of recently announced tuition breaks.
Slide 4: Specific Objectives 1. Provide a positive attitude and support for students. 2. Teach good study habits needed for a competitive GPA. 3. Motivate students to participate in appropriate extra-curricular activities. 4. Test preparation for high SAT scores.
Slide 5: Implementation Plan 9th Grade: mentorship, teaching good study habits 10th Grade: establish good grades, take PSAT, extracurricular activities 11th Grade: GPA, take the PSAT, visit colleges, take the SAT, extracurricular activities 12th Grade: college applications
Slide 6: Current Status GetIntoStanford.org web site is nearly ready for accepting online applications. Currently reaching out to local high school counselors and educators to attract applicants. Paperwork in process for IRS 501(c)(3) status.
