  4. 4. © 2012 Tesco Corporation. All rights reserved. 4Eliminates the need for large andcumbersome travelling elevators.Eliminates high risk “stabber” positionin derrick.Eliminates the need for conventionalFill-Up and Circulation Tools.Eliminates the need for, and thehazards of conventional power tongs in aspace restricted area.Benefits: TESCO Casing Drive System™
  5. 5. © 2012 Tesco Corporation. All rights reserved. 5Significantly reduces the amount of equipment and personnelrequired to run casing.Provides a high level of mechanizationKeeps personnel out of the line of fireCan handle casing sizes from 4 ½ - 20”Places the casing running operation under the control of the driller.Benefits (cont’d.)
  6. 6. © 2012 Tesco Corporation. All rights reserved. 6Is quickly installed on any Top Drive system, electric or hydraulic, withtypically no modifications to any existing drilling equipment.Eliminates Conventional casing operations which cannot rotate pipe.Eliminates need for separate fill up tools.TESCO CDS™ allows simultaneous rotation, reciprocation andcirculation of the casing string enhancing capability to get casing tobottom through troublesome well bores and gaining improvedcementing results.Benefits (cont’d.)

  11. 11. © 2012 Tesco Corporation. All rights reserved. The Single Joint Elevators and the Link Tilt Assembly worktogether to pick up the joint of Casing from the V-door.
  12. 12. © 2012 Tesco Corporation. All rights reserved. When picked-up, the Link Tiltsand Single Joint Elevator arecentered with the CDS. Thejoint is lowered so that the pinend of the Casing is stabbedinto the stump. The CDS is then lowered intothe joint of Casing, stoppingbefore the Stop Bumper.
  13. 13. © 2012 Tesco Corporation. All rights reserved. The CDS Operator then engages theactuator and the grapples will ramp outand grip the ID of the casing.Once the CDS is properly engaged insidethe casing, the CDS operator signals thedriller to engage the top drive to make upthe casing to the preset torque.Once the connection is made, the CDS tooltakes the weight of the string and the slipsare released and the string is lowered intothe well. While the string is being lowered the rigpumps can be engaged to fill the casing, and if desired, to circulate and reciprocate.
  14. 14. © 2012 Tesco Corporation. All rights reserved. As the joint reaches the floor the single joint elevators can beextended to receive the next joint of casing.Once at floor level the slips areset and the casing string isreleased by the CDS.(A design feature of the toolprevents release of the casingwith weight on the grapples).
