  • Our confidence in biblical prophecy
    • Daniel 2:31-36 (NIV)
31 "You looked, O king, and there before you stood a large statue—an enormous, dazzling statue, awesome in appearance. 32 The head of the statue was made of pure gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, 33 its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of baked clay. 34 While you were watching, a rock was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them. 35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were broken to pieces at the same time and became like chaff on a threshing floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth.   36 "This was the dream, and now we will interpret it to the king.

    • Daniel 2:37-42 (NIV)
37 You, O king, are the king of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion and power and might and glory; 38 in your hands he has placed mankind and the beasts of the field and the birds of the air. Wherever they live, he has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold.   39 "After you, another kingdom will rise, inferior to yours. Next, a third kingdom, one of bronze, will rule over the whole earth. 40 Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron—for iron breaks and smashes everything—and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others. 41 Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay. 42 As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle.
  • Our confidence in biblical prophecy
    • Daniel 2:43-45 (NIV)
43 And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay.   44 "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever. 45 This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands—a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces.       "The great God has shown the king what will take place in the future. The dream is true and the interpretation is trustworthy."
  • What does it tell us? European Union (Added Note: Not included in original graphic)) This passage shows clearly from the statue the beginning with Nebuchadnezzar- the head of Gold – a kingdom that rules over Israel and the World. From the 3 more kingdoms follow. A total of 4 empires that rule over Israel and most of the world. The forth kingdom does not quite disappear. It resurfaces at the end of the age and will be discussed in our current trends section. Graphic Source: http://www.biblepicturegallery.com/Pictures/Prophecy.htm
  • Our confidence in biblical prophecy
    • Daniel 7:15-17 (NIV)
15 "I, Daniel, was troubled in spirit, and the visions that passed through my mind disturbed me. 16 I approached one of those standing there and asked him the true meaning of all this.       "So he told me and gave me the interpretation of these things: 17 'The four great beasts are four kingdoms that will rise from the earth.
  • What does it tell us? European Union (Added Note: Not included in original graphic)) Here again is the revealing that from the kingdom that Daniel was in- Babylon- counting from it there would be a total of four empires that would rule over Israel and the world. This what happened in History- From Babylon we see Persia, then Greece and then finally Rome which in the end took the Jews out of the land of Israel and spread them all over the Earth. Graphic Source: http://www.biblepicturegallery.com/Pictures/Prophecy.htm
  • What does it tell us? European Union (Added Note: Not included in original graphic)) What is so fascinating is what happens in the book of Revelation. Now we are in the year of 90AD and John lives in the Roman Empire. God reveals to John that beginning from the kingdom that he is in now, what has happened so far, what is going on right now and what will happen. There are kings that ruled over Israel- 5 are gone, one is one yet to come. Graphic Source: http://www.biblepicturegallery.com/Pictures/Prophecy.htm
  • What does it tell us? European Union (Added Note: Not included in original graphic)) If we start from where John is that present kingdom would be Rome, counting back how many kings ruled over Israel and most of the world. We have seen that Daniel had already shown 3 of them: Greece, Persia and the Babylon. That is still 2 short- but if you are a student of history you know that before Babylon ruled Assyria ruled Israel. There is one more before that – Egypt. So that is 5 that are gone and 1 that is. What about the one that is yet to come? The king also has ten other rulers involved with him, just as the prophecies in Daniel had told. • 2. Daniel 9:24-25 (NIV)
24 "Seventy 'sevens' are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy.   25 "Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven 'sevens,' and sixty-two 'sevens.' It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble.
  • Our confidence in biblical prophecy
    • 2. Daniel 9:26-27 (NIV)
26 After the sixty-two 'sevens,' the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.
  • What does it tell us?
    • Israel was given 70 periods of 7 years before the end.
    • That is 490 years.
    • The Bible states that 69 periods would happen then the Messiah would die.
  • What does it tell us?
    • We know this time table started because of verse 25.
    • The prophet Nehemiah went to King Artaxerxes and requested to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem – he gave us the date (Nehemiah 2:1)
    • Sir Robert Anderson: Assistant Commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police, at Scotland Yard devoted much time to investigating the precise timing of this prophecy. From his studies he proved that from the time of Artaxerxes decree until Jesus came to Jerusalem and died was 173,880 days which is 483 Jewish years! Which is precisely what the bible said would happen

    1 In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before;
  • What Current Events Suggest We are Living in the Last Days?
  • The Bible describes the signs of the end times which are happening right now
    • Matthew 24:6-8 (NIV)
6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.
    • The 2 questions asked by the disciples pertain to the “signs” that would precede the 2 nd coming of Christ. The questions were:
      • “ Tell us, when will these things happen”
      • “ What will be the sign of Your coming?”
      • “ What will be the sign of the end of the age?”
    What does it tell us?
    • Jesus then went to tell them the events that would precede His 2 nd coming. The prophets also told of many events that would happen just before Jesus’ return.
    • The Bible is clear that no one knows when Jesus will return. So all those who gave specific dates are wrong.
    • Although we don’t know the exact day or hour, we can discern the signs of the times. Jesus warned us that we should be watching and praying for His second coming.
    What does it tell us?
  • Jesus says:
    • Matthew 24:44 (NIV)
44So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. Mark 13:33 (NIV) 33Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.
    • The number one sign of the time is the rebirth of the nation of Israel .
      • The Bible foretold that the Jewish people would be scattered all over the world but in the latter days, they would be brought back to the land of Israel. (Ezekiel chapters 36 and 37, Matthew 24:15 “infers the Temple will be rebuilt)
  • 2. Rise of Russia and its alignment with nations against Israel is a sign of the times. Ezekiel 38:2,4,8 (NIV) 2 "Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal; prophesy against him 4 I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords. 8 After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety.
  • 2. Rise of Russia and its alignment with nations against Israel is a sign of the times.
    • Prior to the 20 th century, Magog or Russia was not an economic or military world power. In order for some end time events to occur Russia has to be a strong nation.
    • The Bible also predicts in Ezekiel 38-39 after a the time Israel has been brought back that the land to the uttermost north would align themselves with Persia (iran), Libya, ancient Ethiopia/Sudan and the Turkish states and would come down against Israel.
  • 3. The radical increase in knowledge and ability to travel worldwide is a sign of the times. Daniel 12:4 (NIV) 4 But you, Daniel, close up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge."
  • 3. The radical increase in knowledge and ability to travel worldwide is a sign of the times. More knowledge has been discovered in the last century than in all history combined. 90% of all the engineers and scientists who have ever lived are alive today (from Billy Graham)
  • 4. Moral breakdown (godlessness) is a sign of the times. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NIV) 1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them
  • 4. Moral breakdown (godlessness) is a sign of the times. 2 Peter 3:3-4 (NIV) 3First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." The Internet, TV and movies has enabled the spread of pornography and filth and is now becoming more rampant and accepted.
  • 5. Increase in wars, earthquakes and pestilences are signs of the times. Matthew 24:7 (NIV) 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
  • a. Wars Matthew 24:6 (NIV) 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
  • a. Wars
    • Rumors of wars now occur frequently thanks to instant coverage by the news media.
    • More people have been killed in warfare in this century than in any other time in history.
    • Devastating weapons of mass destruction (nuclear, chemical , and biological) are now available. For the first time in history we now have the capacity to destroy ourselves.
  • b. Famines Matthew 24:7 (NIV) 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. Famine is a constant finding in Africa, especially in Ethiopia and Sudan. A large portion of the world’s 5 billion people are undernourished.
  • b. Earthquakes Matthew 24:7 (NIV) 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
    • The number and intensity of earthquakes this century are at a level higher than any other time in history.
    • By contrast in the years 1890-1900 there was only one major earthquake in the world.
  • What does it all mean? The key here is that Jesus said that these would be the beginnings of “birth pangs.” In other words these events would increase in frequency and intensity as the time got closer to His coming. We know that we have gone from wars to world wars. Man has the capability of annihilating himself many times over. The weather is changing and mega-storms are increasing. Diseases such as AIDS, Ebola, bird flu and the H1N1 pandemic are spreading.
  • 6. The Bible also predicts that a world power will arise in the last days which will be the revived Roman Empire. For several thousand years Rome has been fragmented into man nation’s states. Yet in the mid 90’s, the EU was formed with its new currency called the Euro . In Daniel 2 we see Nebuchadnezzar’s image that shows the final kingdom that will arise in the last days. It is described as the 10 toes of the image mixed with iron and clay. The Roman Empire was represented by iron. The final kingdom is iron and clay.
  • 7. Technology advanced to allow predictions to be fulfilled precisely. The mark of the beast – a mark of every human that can be tracked. Revelation 13:16-17 (NIV) 16He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, 17so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.

  • 7. Technology advanced to allow predictions to be fulfilled precisely. – LIVE VIA SATELLITE In Revelation 11 two witnesses for God are killed in Jerusalem and their bodies lie on the streets for days. The whole world witness this. This was written in 99 AD – Before TV and satellite – now with technology all the world can see the same thing at the same time – example – the 9/11 tragedy.
  • 7. Technology advanced to allow predictions to be fulfilled precisely. – LIVE VIA SATELLITE Revelation 11:7-10 (NIV) 7Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. 8Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. 9For three and a half days men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.
  • 8. Gospel Preached throughout the world Matthew 24:14 (NIV) 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Missionaries have also carried the gospel to different locations and the bible has been translated in various languages.
