  • 1. 폴리클 5조 38번 유고은Clinical and microbiologicaleffects of local chlorhexidineapplications
  • 2. Introduction & Aim Chlorhexidine(CHX) is regarded as an effective locallyapplied antimicrobial The most suitable forms for application : varnishapplied in interproximal, cervical, fissure Aim : To study the effects of an application ofchlorhexidine varnish(40%) on dental plaque
  • 3. Materials and methods• 40 volunteers (20male/20female), 25~35 years of age• API (Approximal plaque-index)• Test group : CHXControl group : no CHX• Ramfjord teeth• The number of colony unit : CFU0: no CFU1: 1-10 CFU2: 11-100 CFU3: more than 100 CFU
  • 4. Materials and methodsClinical trial was carried out three sessions
  • 5. Results 1. Basic data
  • 6. 2. Plaque-index (Quigley-Hein)ABCD
  • 7. 3. Sulcus-bleeding index (SBI)
  • 8. 4. The Dentocult® SM test
  • 9. Results CHX application significantly decreases plaque values involunteers with poor oral hygiene Effect of a CHX varnish on sulcus-bleeding index→ considerable decrease was noted in group C CHX application reduced the frequently of high CFUscores
  • 10. Discussion Low plaque-accumulation test group :slightly lowered following the application of CHX High plaque-accumulation test group :when underwent CHX application, considerable reduction of the plaque-index
  • 11. Discussion under clinical conditions with good dental hygiene:NOT required in the repertoire of preventive measures high plaque-accumulation patients:application of a chlorhexidine-varnish is very effectivemethod to reduce the main risk-factor for theemergence of caries Compliance is required primarily to reduce the cariesincidence of high-risk subjects
