  • 1. Raising 100 New YOUWIN Awardees
  • 2. What is YOUWIN? YouWiN! stands for Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria. It is an innovative business plan competition aimed at job creation by encouraging and supporting aspiring entrepreneurial youth in Nigeria to develop and execute business ideas and create jobs. The accomplishments of the 1,200 YouWiN! awardees were celebrated at the Presidential Villa on April 12, 2012. Another set of 1,200 women also benefitted from the second edition.
  • 3.  The Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria, YouWiN! is a collaboration of the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Communication Technology, the Ministry of Youth Development and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development that organizes an annual Business Plan Competition for aspiring young entrepreneurs in Nigeria, in line with the Federal Government’s drive to create more jobs for Nigerians. The programme is being managed with collaboration with various organization in the private sector such Lagos Business School’ Entreprise Development Centre, Pilmus Business School United Kingdom, School For Start ups, Small and Medium Entreprise Development, (SMEDAN), Bank of Industry(BOI) and other organizations.
  • 4. Objectives of The Programme Objective of the Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YouWiN!) Programme is to generate jobs by encouraging and supporting aspiring entrepreneurial youth in Nigeria to develop and execute business ideas that will lead to job creation. The programme will provide aspiring youth with a platform to show case their business acumen, skills and aspirations to the Nigerian Business environment.

Other identified objectives of the programme are highlighted below:  Attract ideas and innovations from young entrepreneurial aspirants from Universities, Polytechnics, Technical colleges, and other postSecondary institutions in Nigeria;  Provide a onetime equity grant for 1,200 selected aspiring entrepreneurs to start or expand their business concepts and mitigate start up risks;  Generate 80,000 to 110,000 new jobs for currently unemployed Nigerian youth over the three years during which the three cycles will be implemented;

Other identified objectives of the programme are highlighted below:  Provide business training for up to 6,000 aspiring youth entrepreneurs spread across all geo-political zones in Nigeria;  Encourage expansion, specialization and spin-offs of existing businesses in Nigeria; and,  Enable young entrepreneurs to access a wide business professional network and improve their visibility.  YouWiN is an equity contribution to business.   • 7. Are You Qualify?  Do you have existing business or sound business Concept?  Are you between 18-40 years of age?  Do You have post secondary education?  Are you serious? If you answers are yes, the you are qualify………

To be eligible for the Business Plan Competition you must satisfy the following criteria:  You must be a proven citizen of Nigeria and a woman no older     than 45 years (proof of identity: International passport/Drivers License/National ID/Voters card required) You must have a post-secondary school qualification Your proposed business venture must be within the national borders of Nigeria, and with the intention of employing Nigerian citizens. Your proposed venture must not entail the production or distribution of weapons, alcoholic beverages, tobacco or/and gambling, or any activities in contradiction with the Nigerian constitution You must prepare an innovative business concept summary

  • 11. YOUWIN Overviewentries were existing Even though only 15% of 1st stage businesses, 53% of winners are existing businesses. The proportion of women winners was optimized using a stratified selection approach. 17% of 1st stage entries were female entrepreneurs and that proportion was maintained among the final winners 100% women for second edition

YOUWIN MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME The MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME was designed to prepare and equipped SERIOUS MINDED YOUTHS that come my way with all technical and entrepreneurial skills to participate in the programme and eventually be among the final winners. About one million Nigerian youths are expected to participate in this programme and only one thousand two hundred applicants with the best business ideas will receive grant. So for you to make it, you need to be trained, supported and mentored to succeed. We are ready to put the best of our resources together to make this possible for you. We will work with about ten consultants who are winners and beneficiaries of the last editions of the programme to deliver this.
