    1. Expert Tire Wear Tips
    2. Let’s talk about tire wear for a minute.
      • Remember the old penny test?
      • If you could see the top of Lincoln’s head it
      • was time for new tires.
      • Well, testing shows
      • that you should
      • probably replace
      • them sooner.
    3. That 2/32 of an inch of tread just isn’t safe anymore.
      • There is quite a dramatic difference
      • between the stopping distance of a tire with
      • 2/32nds of an
      • inch of tread
      • compared to
      • one with 4/32nd.
      Quite a dramatic difference.
    4. So how do you know if you have 4/32nds or more?
      • If you can see the top of his wig, then by George, it’s time to get new tires.
Simple. Use the new “Quarter Test.”
    5. Tire Inflation Matters
      • Of course, be sure to keep your
      • tires correctly inflated to your
      • vehicle manufacturer’s
      • recommended level.
      • It’s the easiest thing you can do to ensure the performance and long life of your tires.
      • But remember that hot air expands; so be sure to check in the morning before the heat of the day.
    6. Nitronize ® Your Tires
      • At Belle Tire we can
      • make things a little easier –
      • just Nitronize ® your tires with
      • Nitrogen tire inflation.
      • Nitrogen does not react to differences in outside
      • temperature or leak out over time as readily as air
      • does, so it maintains your tire’s proper inflation
      • much longer.
    7. Either way, invest in a good tire gauge
      • Tire gauges at the service station are
      • notoriously inaccurate.
      • And while you’re checking
      • pressure, go ahead and
      • check the valve stems for
      • damage and make sure
      • they’re all capped tightly.
    8. Finally, make sure you rotate your tires every six months or 6,000 miles.
      • Rotation will extend the
      • life of your tires and ensure
      • even wear, performance,
      • traction and the best
      • ride possible.
