Transcript

  • 1. Aug 1-21, 2013 MY TRIP TO AFRICA (BOTSWANA)! Benjamin Bell
  • 2. Dumela (Hello)! Most of my time was spent near Gaborone (the capital city). Staying with Ibo Ngebani and his amazing family.
  • 3. INTRODUCING THE NGEBANI FAMILY… Ibo Ibo & Leche Ben & Phazha Sabrina & Ben
  • 4. More shots of the kids. Sabrina being Sabrina. And the shot of Phazha is from us picking him up (and other kids) from school.
  • 5. 1) Phazha is pretty smart for a 7 yr old. 20/20 on his spelling test! 2) Phazha and I playing Frisbee 3) Phazha and I
  • 6. Some pictures from our adventures around Gaborone. We went to a Lion Park, and then had some fun on the dune buggies!
  • 7. Next stop was the Gaborone game reserve to see more animals.
  • 8. The University of Botswana
  • 9. A morning at the museum!
  • 10. Parliament Buildings
  • 11. A night at the mall for a late night snack.
  • 12. I was so happy to find a local tennis club. I played their quite a bit. Great people!
  • 13. Ibo‟s older brother (left side) wanted to give me a chicken as a „traditional‟ greeting to his country. It was a great honour. You should check out my videos that I took while Ibo killed & cleaned the chicken! Talk about memories…!
  • 14. Time for a 9-12 hr drive (depended on who was driving and whether or not wildlife decided to walk onto the highway) up to Kasane to do some SERIOUS game viewing!
  • 15. We stayed at a lodge called „Thebe River Lodge‟ in Kasane. It was quite nice.
  • 16. First up: We left at 5:30am for a morning game drive. This is a picture of the truck we rode in. This picture was taken at around 9:30am when we returned to the lodge. NOTE: The following pictures are all from that morning game drive! These are NOT Zoo animals, these are wild animals found in their natural habitat! AWESOME!
  • 17. The morning Sun rise.
  • 18. This is not a skunk. I forget what it was called, but definitely not a skunk.
  • 19. The next few slides are mostly landscape pictures (not too many animals). The geographer in me was just as fascinated in the beauty.
  • 20. Notice how the bottom half of the bush is missing leaves. The impala graze on it, and there were 1000s of impala! I guess that leaves the top half of the bush for all the giraffes!
  • 21. That afternoon we signed up for the boat cruise. I think this was my favourite thing from the whole trip. We saw true beauty out there on the water….it was spectacular!
  • 22. This is such a classic!
  • 23. The only thing that could top off a day with a game drive AND a boat cruise…is this AMAZING pizza. Soooo good. It was the most amazing day ever. What could possibly top this right?!...to be continued…
  • 24. How about a day trip over to Zimbabwe to see one of the „7 Wonders of the World‟….Victoria Falls!!!
  • 25. “Dr. Livingston I presume”. He is the guy that is credited with finding the Falls.
  • 26. The water flow is pretty is strong here. It got a little weaker the farther we walked.
  • 27. The water level was in the „low‟ season. But the landscape was super cool to look at.
  • 28. It would have been nice to see the Falls when there was this much water flow! Wow.
  • 29. Just a few more random shots from us driving around Kasane.
  • 30. This was an expensive resort/lodge that we checked out. It was crazy expensive but crazy nice.
  • 31. Another more expensive lodge we checked out. We actually saw a green mamba snake here. Sorry no picture though (it was too fast)!
  • 32. This was my fair-well party. Pizza, chips, and pop! Yum!
  • 33. THE END!
