Here we will practise the following sounds:
[s], [z] and [ʃ].
She sells sea shells on the sea shore;
The shells that she sells are sea shells I'm sure.
So if she sells sea shells on the sea shore,
I'm sure that the shells are sea shore shells.

'S' sounds
In English the letter 's' can be pronounced as [s] or [z].
'S' is usually pronounced [z] when it comes between two vowel sounds:
Music.Season.Easy.
'S' is pronounced [s] if we add 's' to a noun to form the plural:
Three dogs.Ten hamburgers.
If we add 's' to a verb it is the third person singular.
He drinks. She eats. It sleeps.
If the letters 'se' come after a vowel, we pronounce the ending [z]:
Use.Choose.These.
Exceptions: HouseMouse.
In these cases the 's' is pronounced [s].

Body and Mind
Mary
I have started a new class at the gym, it's called Body Balance. It's a mixture of Yoga,
Pilates and Tai Chi. It is a great workout for your body and mind.
Robert
Really? That sounds fun!
Mary
It is, it makes your legs, your back, your stomach and core strong. The exercises focus on
breathing and clearing your mind so it is very relaxing.
Robert
I need that. I think I will come to the next class.
Can you cook?
Helen
Can you cook, Andrew?
Andrew
Not really, but I try. I can cook a few things; my specialities, but not much else
unfortunately.
Helen
What are your specialities, Robert?
Robert
I can make pasta with a tomato sauce. Or a sausage and egg sandwich. I'm not really a
master chef.
