BACKGROUND

With a background in Interdisciplinary Design Strategy and Design Management
from Toronto and Dubai, I have a obtained a broad spectrum of the design
industry. I have studied, worked, and visited 16 countries experiencing
multicultural diversity. My international experience as a global citizen has given
me an advantage as a strategic design manager to tackle design solutions with
a global vantage point which is often reflected through my work and creative
analytical skills.

EXHIBIT DESIGN

Universally Local Exhibition 2010
This exhibit is the physical manifestation to a prolonged 9 months design
research on Urban City Systems as part of the Institute without Boundaries
with Toronto Community Housing. I was able to manage the budget and
production of the exhibit that included the structure, lighting, print, and the
3D model. The exhibit was a great success, and was advertised in Azure
magazine.

                                                                                  Belal Sibai | e-mail: belal.alsibai@gmail.com | Tel: +1 (416) 820.2554
EXHIBIT DESIGN

People Power Public Space 2010
As part of research on City Systems at the Institute Without Boundaries, this
exhibit communicated our developed City Matrix. The purpose of the exhibit
was to evoke visitor’s thought on the relationship between the individuals and
society. As the project manager, I was involved in planning and designing this
travel exhibit which won the best student booth award at the Interior Design
show and was displayed in Milan at the Fabrica Del Vapore.

                                                                                 Belal Sibai | e-mail: belal.alsibai@gmail.com | Tel: +1 (416) 820.2554
EXHIBIT DESIGN

Al Shaali Marine 2008
As part of my design management education, I was involved with a team of
15 to plan, design, and implement an exhibit for Al Shaali Marine Yachts
Division during the Dubai International Boat Show. My role was to manage
the creative process Internally and to communicate with the client on behalf
of the team. During the show, Al Shaali had over a 1,000 visitors and total
sales of over Dhs.16,000,000

URBAN PLANNING

Flemingdon Park Revitalization Proposal 2010
As part of the City Systems project at the Institute without Boundaries, we
were given a challenge to work with our Toronto Community Housing to
redevelop a local neighborhood in Toronto. After rigorously researching the
community, the neighborhood context, conducting various community and
client meetings, and working with industry professionals, we developed an
innovative sustainable plan that was communicated through client
presentations and two publications.

                                                                              Belal Sibai | e-mail: belal.alsibai@gmail.com | Tel: +1 (416) 820.2554
UNIT DESIGN

Unit Design Charrette 2010
Part of City Systems Project at the Institute without Boundaries, I managed
the facilitation of an intensive design charrette composed of 14 architecture
and technology students. Our goal was to design a sustainable home unit
and unit cluster plan to be proposed in Flemingdon Park Community for
Toronto Community Housing. The results were communicated graphically
through a public and client presentation.

                                                                                Belal Sibai | e-mail: belal.alsibai@gmail.com | Tel: +1 (416) 820.2554
BRANDING

Rebranding Stonec
As part of my design management education, I was asked to chose a
company and rebrand their logo, then apply the design through an Ad
campaign. My client was Stonec, a handtools company based in Germany.
My intention for the rebranding was to give the company a strong trustworthy
visual image and promote the company not only to businesses, but also to
DIY consumer markets.

                                                                               Belal Sibai | e-mail: belal.alsibai@gmail.com | Tel: +1 (416) 820.2554
RESEARCH TOOLS

Ace Hardware Method Cards
Based on the IDEO method cards, I worked closely with Ace Hardware
Dubai to developed a set of cards that would better help them understand
their customer user experience through asking them a set of questions.
Solutions resulted in innovative ideas informed by their customers.

                                                                           Belal Sibai | e-mail: belal.alsibai@gmail.com | Tel: +1 (416) 820.2554
PRODUCT/PACKAGING DESIGN

BILLY Desk Clock
In support of sustainable product design, and based on research that states
over 40% of consumer waste is derived from product packaging, I
developed this concept clock in which the packaging becomes the product,
resulting in 0% waste package waste.

Dubai Tourism DVD
After researching Dubai’s tourism market, we developed a concept for a
DVD aimed at a specific target audience. The DVD portrays Dubai as a
