    • Your task is to work pairs or individually to create a PowerPoint that investigates the promotion of the film Avatar.
    • Complete the following tasks to create your PowerPoint, make sure that your PowerPoint has a clear layout. At no point should my questions appear in your PowerPoint
    • Use the internet to research, some answers may also be in your books. You can use pictures and insert website links. When you get information from a website copy and paste the website on a slide at the end of the presentation creating a website list
    • The best PowerPoint will win a prize and be posted to the class blog

    • Name the film you are researching for this case study
    • When was the film released
    • What media hype surrounded the release of the film
    • What genre is the film? Does it have more than one genre?
    • Who are the BBFC? What certificate did the give the film and why?

    • Who are the primary and secondary target audiences for this film? How does this film appeal to them?
    • Name the production company behind this film? Who owns it?
    • What other films has the production company been responsible for? Why is this important?

    • Briefly describe the trailer – include details on how the characters are represented, how the genre is communicated, and how the film is made to appeal to an audience

    • Using denotation and connotation analyse the poster.

    • How does this promotional device market the film? (use denotation and connotation)
    • Who is the target audience of this specific device? Why?
  • 8. The Website
