      • Time
      • Money
      • Frustration
    19. Success tip #1 Don’t design the site before you define your objectives and target audience.
    20. Success tip #2 Once your objectives are clear, develop and prioritize a “wish list”.
      • Features & Functions:
      • Jobs link on home page
      • “ Real time” job postings
      • Sort by date
      • “ Send to a friend.”
      • Employee videos
      • Job cart
      • Job search agents
    21. Success tip #2 Once your objectives are clear, develop and prioritize a “wish list”.
        • Critical. We must have this.
        • Important . We need this, but it’s not worth delaying the new website.
        • Nice to have. We’d like this, but we can live without.
        • Not an option. Out of the question due to technology or $$$ limits.
    22. Success tip #3 Remember that “awesome” is in the eye of the beholder.
      • Your Wish List
      • Jobs link on home page
      • “ Real time” job postings
      • Separate student site
      • Easy to update
      • Minimal downtime.
      • Employee videos
      • Candidate’s Wish List
      • Job site is easy to find.
      • Jobs are still open.
      • Content matters to me.
      • Content is current.
      • Content loads quickly.
      • Shows me what it’s like to work there.
    23. Success tip #3 Remember that “awesome” is in the eye of the beholder.
      • What will the candidate:
      • See?
      • Learn?
      • Think?
      • Feel?
      • Do?
      NOT
    24. Success tip #4 Assemble the right team.
      • Do you have right resources to:
        • Manage the project?
        • Design the new website?
        • Write the copy?
        • Build and test the site?
        • Maintain the site once it’s built?
        • Pay for the site?
    25. Success tip #4 Assemble the right team.
      • Our project team:
        • Director of Recruitment (Project Manager)
        • Director of Marketing
        • MultiCare Webmaster and Programmer
        • Recruitment Team members
        • Advertising Agency (JWT)
        • Video Producer (Mark Goodnow)
        • Site Building Company (Site Crafting)
        • ATS Consultant (DeFoe & Associates)
    26. Success tip #5 Make your site and your jobs easy to find. Targeted sites for external candidates Separate postings for employees Memorable URL: multicarejobs.org Search engine optimization
    27. Success tip #6 Don’t forget about your ATS
      • Your website is a stop along the way (to your ATS), not the destination.
      • Candidates come to your website to learn about job opportunities.
      • Your ATS drives the job posting process.
      • Your job posting process has a huge impact on whether visitors will take the time to apply.
    28. Success tip #7 Be willing to disagree with the experts.
      • “ Best practices” aren’t always “best” for you.
      • Your goal is to turn visitors into candidates. Your agency’s goal is to win awards or clients.
      • Budget is an issue.
      • “ Great” would be great...but “good” may be good enough (or all that you can afford.)
    29. Success tip #8 Test, test and test again.
    30. Success tip #9 Your website is never finished.
    31. Success tip #10 Stay close to your marketing team.
    32. One year after our new site launched: One organization: Two very different looks multicarejobs.org August 2007 multicare.org August 2008
    33. Our new website: Version 2.0 www.multicarejobs.org
    34. Getting the resources you’ll need to build a new site
      • Stop spending $$$ on ads that don’t work.
      • Make the case with web traffic and sourcing data.
      • Show how a better website will reduce other costs.
      • Get in-house experts and decision makers excited.
      • Use outside experts in moderation.
      • Spread the costs over several years.
      • Do some (or much) of the work yourself.
