What is POP ART?• Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the mid 1950s in Britain and in the late 1950s in the United States.• Pop art often takes as its imagery that which is currently in use in advertising.• It often uses images from comic books or ordinary cultural objects too (example: the hearts)
Contrast• Dine’s series usually contains contrast created by shadow and light between the main object and the background
What next?• Now that we looked at the work of pop artist Jim Dine we can notice his symbolic themes is the heart.• His hearts do not look like the heart on a valentine card. – What did he do to make his hearts unique? – color varieties, contrast and painting style
Our Objective (goal)• We will create a heart composition that shows color contrast and no outlines• Then if the contrast is not clear enough, we will add value contrast with oil pastel.
