Youth Groups through the Ages  60s/70s/80s
60s The Mods-a subculture that originated in London. It began in the late 1950s and peaked in the early/mid 1960s.  Boys-wore smart tailor made suits, pointed shoes Girls-had a boyish image, short hair and dark eye makeup Popular Brands-Fred Perry, Ben Sherman etc Known for riding Italian motor scooters Music-Pop music including African American soul, Jamaican ska, and British beat music and R&B
The Who-were an iconic band  at this time They were known  for their  big performances as Pete Townshend  would smash his guitar into the  Speakers. This aggression represents  the mod culture. Other bands that were popular  are the Rolling Stones and The  Beatles.
70s Punks-subculture emerged in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia in the mid-1970s. Punks fashion and style was known for being highly theatrical e.g. Mohawks, ripped clothes held together by safety pins, drainpipe skinny trousers, leather jackets and lots of body modification and piercings
Centered around listening to recordings or live concerts of a loud, aggressive genre of rock music called punk rock… Bands such as the Sex Pistols (known for their crazy gigs with a rebellious atmosphere) and The Clash are bands that are an example of this genre of music
80s Goths-began in England during the early 1980s in the gothic rock scene Its imagery and cultural proclivities indicate influences from the 19th century Gothic literature along with horror films  Goth fashion stereotyped -dark, sometimes morbid, eroticized fashion and style of dress.  Typical gothic fashion includes dyed black hair, dark eyeliner, black fingernails, black period-styled clothing, piercings
Goth rock grew out of the bleak post-punk rock of the Cure and Joy Division. Goth rock had grand, baroque arrangements performed with gloomy synthesizers and processed guitars.  Lyrically, Goth was equally dark, featuring a lot of cryptic, morbid poetry.  Notable gothic rock bands include Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sex Gang Children, Christian Death, Flesh for Lulu, Gene Loves Jezebel, and Alien Sex Fiend.
