3. The Who-were an iconic band at this time They were known for their big performances as Pete Townshend would smash his guitar into the Speakers. This aggression represents the mod culture. Other bands that were popular are the Rolling Stones and The Beatles.

Punks fashion and style was known for being highly theatrical e.g. Mohawks, ripped clothes held together by safety pins, drainpipe skinny trousers, leather jackets and lots of body modification and piercings

7. Goth rock grew out of the bleak post-punk rock of the Cure and Joy Division. Goth rock had grand, baroque arrangements performed with gloomy synthesizers and processed guitars. Lyrically, Goth was equally dark, featuring a lot of cryptic, morbid poetry. Notable gothic rock bands include Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sex Gang Children, Christian Death, Flesh for Lulu, Gene Loves Jezebel, and Alien Sex Fiend.
