  • 1. Master of Photography: Born: Ansel Adams Famous For: B&W or Color: Sample Image Landscape Both Biographical Information: Ansel discovered photography on a trip to the national park. Ansel took pictures of Pearl Harbor a day before the attack so his pictures he took were very popular. After his work was put into a museum he worked very hard making his pictures into negatives. Master of Photography: Born: Mathew Brady Died: 1822 Famous For: Photojournalism Type of Photography: B&W or Color: Sample Image Sample Image Presidents Sepia Biographical Information: Mathew was the first to undertake the documentation of the American civil war. He was almost killed due to starvation but found his way to Washington. Without Mathews photos they would not have been able to make the movie “The Civil War.” Description of Work: Sample Image January 15th,1896 Different types of pictures.

Master of Photography: Born: Julia Margaret Cameron Died: 1815 Famous For: photographer Type of Photography: B&W or Color: Sample Image Sample Image 1879 Portraits Speia Biographical Information: Julia was known as the “ugly duckling” of her family. Julia started taking pictures when she was 48 years old when he daughter got her a camera for a present. When Julia moved to India her work died because they didn’t have the right stuff to develop the photos. Description of Work: Sample Image Most of her work was done over the holidays. She used her friends, maids, and children. She converted them into Biblical heroines.

He took pictures of landscapes. Alfred refused to sell his photos. Description of Work: Sample Image 1946 Pictures of everyday life.
  • 5. Master of Photography: Born: W. Eugene Smith Famous For: B&W or Color: Sample Image Portraits B&W Biographical Information: He started his career by working for two newspapers. Eugene was wounded taking pictures of battle conditions in the Pacifc of WW2. After recovering Eugene went back to taking pictures of war and was hurt again by mortar fire. Description of Work: Sample Image October 15th, 1978 Photojournalism Type of Photography: Sample Image Died: December 30th, 1918 Eugues work is very sad, deep.

Master of Photography: Born: Dorothea Lange Famous For: B&W or Color: Sample Image October 11th. 1965 Depression photography Type of Photography: Sample Image Died: May 26th, 1895 Portraits Sepia, B&W Biographical Information: Dorothea was born in the second generation of the German immigrants on May 26th, 1895. She went to college at Colombia University in New York. She quit working in the studio and started taking pictures on the street. Her work actually saved all these people, after the government saw the pictures they rushed to help. Description of Work: Sample Image Dorothea takes pictures of the dust bowl. Her most popular work is from the Depression era. Her photos were always depressing.

He had 16 exhibitions. He was the first to experiment photomontage. Description of Work: Sample Image Took pictures of war.

Master of Photography: Born: Robert Frank Famous For: Documentary projects, photography Type of Photography: B&W or Color: Sample Image Sample Image Died: November 9, 1924 Portraits Sepia, B&W Biographical Information: Robert was born in Switzerland. Photography took him away from his family business where he then became famous for commercial photography. In 1947 he came to America to pursue his dream as a magazine photographer. He made a book and showed Alex and was hired on the spot. He took off 6 months and then became famous for documentary projects. Description of Work: Sample Image Robert took photos after WW1. His pictures show how depressed everyone was.

Master of Photography: Born: Lennart Nilsson Famous For: Built custom cameras, scientist photographer, photo journalist Type of Photography: B&W or Color: Sample Image Sample Image Died: August 24th, 1922 Vivo Color Biographical Information: Lennart is a pioneer in medical photography. He started taking pictures in the middle of the 1940’s. He first started taking pictures of the human embryo. He then continued to take pictures of the origins of men. Then of fetal development. He used macro lenses and instruments with special wide angles.. Description of Work: Sample Image Lennnarts work is of fetal development.

Master of Photography: Born: Annie Liebovitz Famous For: Painting, bold colors, rolling stone Type of Photography: B&W or Color: Sample Image Sample Image Died: October 2nd, 1949 Portraits Color, B&W Biographical Information: In 1967 Annie enrolled in San Francisco to be a painter then later found love for photography. In 1970 Annie took a job for Rolling Stone Magazine. In 1983 she started working for Vanity Fair. Description of Work: Sample Image Took pictures of famous people. Used a lot of bold colors.
  • 11. Master of Photography: Born: Richard Avedon Famous For: B&W or Color: Sample Image Portraits B&W Biographical Information: Richard starting taking pictures when he was 12. he was in YMHA. Richard was best known for his work in the fashion world and portraits. Richard went to college for one year then dropped out to go into the Marines. While in the Marines he took pictures of the war and the sailors. After that he enrolled into a New York college and started up with photography again. Description of Work: Sample Image October 1st, 2004 Fashion photography Type of Photography: Sample Image Died: May 15th, 1923 Very unique. All about fashion and animals.

Master of Photography: Born: Jerry Ueslmann Famous For: Photographer, multiple image Type of Photography: B&W or Color: Sample Image Sample Image Died: June 11th, 1934 Surrealism B&W, negative Biographical Information: Jerry has loved photography since he was 14. He thought photography could exist outside of himself. He earned a BA from Rochester Institute of Technology and MS and MFA degrees from Indiana University. Description of Work: Sample Image Jerrys work is very deep. Some of his things feel very relatable.
