  • Hi, I’m Rozalka. We are going to visit Walt Disney. Let’s meet him now. Hi,I’m Olivia!
    • Walt Disney was born in Chicago in 1901.He was a cartoonist and an animator. He liked cartoons a lot. We would say that he liked his job very much.
    Some information about Mr.Disney
    • Young Walt Disney enjoyed drawing. He loved drawing especially nature and animals. He often sold his drawings to neighbors. Walt also liked photography. He studied art. and photography at his high school.
    Early Years
    • When Walt Disney was sixteen the First World War started. He wanted to join the army but the army would not let him in. He was too young to be a solider but he wanted to help. What could he do? He decided to join the Red Cross. He was sent to France. He drove an ambulance in France. He also drew cartoons all over his ambulance. It looked really fantastic.

    • Disney loved making animations. He liked reading books. He read many books about animation. He also learned how other animations worked. In 1922 he started his own company in Kansas City. He called it Laugh-O-gram Films. He made an animated movie called ’’Little Red Riding Hood’’. He also made a movie called ’’Alice’s Wonderland’’. But he did not complete the movie.
    First Company
    • Disney moved to Hollywood in Los Angeles. He wanted to be a filmmaker but soon he gave up .He began to make animation movies again. In 1923 he built his first animation studio. He invited his brother to join him. His brother became his partner. They called their first studio the Disney Brothers Studio .
    Animation Studio
    • In 1928 Disney created Mickey Mouse. Mickey’s first animation was called ‘‘Plane Crazy” . Mickey made his screen debut in the movie ”Steamboat Willie”. Very soon Mickey Mouse became the most popular mouse in the world. In 1934 Disney created Donald Duck. He made his debut in the movie titled ”The Wise Little Hen” Donald Duck also became very famous.

    • Walt Disney loved children. He wanted to do something special for them. What could he do? Make a guess! He built a special park in California. He called it Disneyland. It was an amusement park. It was the first of its kind in the world. Very soon it became the most popular place in the world. Now there are many other Disneylands all over the world .
    • Walt Disney won many prizes for his work. The most important prize for him was an Oscar. He won many Oscars, more than anyone else.
    • The Oscar is a special prize that honors great work in motion pictures.
    • Walt Disney was a great animator and entertainer. He worked hard all his life. He was a very creative person. He created many famous cartoon characters which are widely known nowadays.
