  2. 2. When the world got rid of Osama Bin Laden, the internet was set ablaze by a flurry of viral videos, images and jokes. It’s on the same day, that we decided to test the ability of Twitter to take communication to viral proportions.
  3. 3. Zombie Osama Bin Laden (@ZombieOBL ) - The parody OBL account was created. The objective was to see how long it would take before this account would trend on Twitter across India May 2 nd 2011 – 9.30 am
  4. 4. Who else would a zombie follow? The man responsible for him becoming a zombie, that’s who! (@BarackObama ) Let’s see how the campaign took shape! Who does ZombieOBL follow?

THE BATTLE BEGINS <ul><li>@ smellmyarmpits and @ sv3e created hilarious tweets and JPEGs to allow people to propagate and RT the ZombieOBL propaganda </li></ul><ul><li>The tweets spoke about Osama’s experiences in hell/heaven </li></ul><ul><li>Tweets such as: “ I'm the Commander of Heaven (@ Heaven)  http://4sq.com/80085 ” were RT’d by the followers, who steadily increased in count. </li></ul><ul><li>Some complained, but most loved the concept and started conversations </li></ul>
  6. 6. The very first tweet gets 100+ RTs SHOCK AND AWE
  7. 7. SHOCK AND AWE <ul><li>The parody account spoke to many influencers across the world. Soon, with barely 50 followers, the tweets and Twitpics were getting RT’d worldwide. </li></ul><ul><li>Tweets were created keeping in mind viral topics of the past from India and the world. </li></ul><ul><li>But that wasn’t enough. People needed funny images they could share across their social networks such as Facebook. </li></ul><ul><li>Hence, the challenge was set. A shock and awe assault on the senses was put in motion. </li></ul>

  10. 10. So who spoke about ZombieOBL?
  11. 11. Among hundreds of others… For every tweet they RT’d, we spoke to thousands of their followers
  12. 12. And within 24 hours, we got the follower who told us the mission was a success.
