Research skills are becoming more important in the workplace. One thing I have had success using with my students is the ‘Son of Citation Machine’ for citing sources. It saves the students time – and provides them with a resource that will aide them in the future as well. Different departments in our building use different styles of citation. The students don’t have to memorize these various formats. They can now just put their information in the machine and choose the preferred format of their teacher.

Communication My 9 th Grade IB students had to create a radio play of one scene from the Odyssey. Using pod casts would be a very easy way for students to create their projects without having to use older technology they may not have at home – thereby creating access to technology that some of our ‘have nots’ can access.
