Mission & Partners
The mission of the University of Wisconsin-Superior SBDC is to champion entrepreneurship in Northwestern Wisconsin.
Our partners are 8 UW-Cooperative Extension offices and staff in the 8 county region. We are partially funded by the US Small Business Administration and The University of Wisconsin.
SBDC Center counselors holds hour-long one-to-one counseling visits at no charge with pre-venture, start-up and established businesses in 8 counties: Ashland, Bayfield , Burnett, Douglas, Iron, Price, Sawyer and Washburn.

First Steps to Starting Your Own Business
This two-hour class covers personal and financial considerations for entrepreneurship, guiding your business with a business plan, and resources to get the information you need.
Offered frequently in all 8 counties
Entrepreneurial Training Program
This is the Center’s business plan writing course covered in 8 weeks plus follow-on counseling sessions. The program is taught 4 times a year in multiple locations through Interactive Television.
Project Management Certificate Program
This is a distance learning certificate program in which participants identify a actual project and learn through up to 56 hours of practical learning activities with individualized coaching with the instructor. Participants can earn 5.6 CEU’s and are eligible to take the PM exam.

New in 2009, this is a two-day workshop is based on Franklin Covey’s successful book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.

Arts Enterprise Business Plan Writing Course – An Online Pilot Program for Artists
The pilot program, addressing multiple artistic disciplines, will launch this Fall . In 2010 the Superior SBDC received $20,000 grants from Wisconsin Arts Board and Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation to develop an online ETP course for creative arts businesses.
Financial Management Basics
In this practical two day workshop, you will learn to understand key accounting financial statements and manage cash and capital for profit.
