  • 1. Christmas, one of the most joy giving feast of the year. All over the worldChristmas has almost the same traditions. The main aim of the Chirstmas is tomention the Birth of Jesus Christ and of course to make people happier around begiving them presents. The most exciting thing about Christmas without doubt isdressing the Christmas tree, telling stories about Santa Claus and his sledge full ofpresents for children all over the world and of course the presents! In Lithuania,during Christmas time, people all over the country, gather to their grandparents,parents or friends, for a Chirstmas dinner. This is the time of the year when almost allof Lithuanian families sit to a single table and talk, share their stories, adventures anda lot more. Children were told that at one mystic moment that evening the water inthe well would turn to wine and that the animals in the stable would speak likehumans. Straws of various lengths were placed under the tablecloth and drawn topredict the length life. Then comes the Christmas morning. The most anticipated timeof Christmas to children, but every child knows that Santa Claus brought presentsonly for children, who were required to earn them by performing for everyone present.They had to perform whatever they were able: recite a poem, sing a song, do adance, or play an instrument. In the morning most of Lithuanians go to Church. Asthe day progressed neighbors would start to visit each other and exchange Christmasgreetings. And then in the evening comes the end of the Advent season and thereturn of entertainment. Christmas season lasted until the Feast of Epiphany onJanuary 6, till then all the Christmas trees were decorated, but on January 6 it’s timeto undress Christmas trees, and mark the end of Christmas!
