  • From her blog: Despite more than 20 years of development, there are few agreements on definitions. Are we educating children about media or with media? Are we talking about a process (media education), or an outcome (media literacy)? Does media literacy include media production? According to researchers at this conference, the answer to all of the questions is “yes.”Information, media, and technology literacy is the acquisition, organization, use, and evaluation of information that prepares students to be active, informed, and literate citizens. The study of social studies includes a variety of skills which are essential to the understanding of historical, geographic, economic, and civic content. Social studies skills are the foundation and building blocks for students to gain an understanding to become an engaged and informed citizen of the 21st Century. These skills which reflect both 21st Century and social studies skills should be taught as an integrated part of classroom content.   • So what advantages does the KC possess?
  • Then: people were prepared to build their workflows around library services.Now: the library must be prepared to build its services around people's workflows.This shift is because people are increasingly building their workflows - or learnflows, or researchflows. ... - on the network. In some cases through a bricolage of desktop and network tools (e.g. toolbars, rss feeds, social networking sites, search engines, etc); in some cases through prefabricated workflow environments (e.g. course management systems, ...).
  • Who will care and or has influence over whether KC succeeds? Where should the KC reach out into their world?
  • Get them at orientation; giveaways; Use text messages, volunteer at student events, at new student week activities, Freshman book activities.
  • Show faculty the possibilities by using the technology within their learning workflow
