• Length - the longer dimension of an object as opposed to its width
• Ruler
• Instrument for measuring length.
• Scale
• The divisions of the units on a ruler.
• The Metric System
• We use only the metric system in science.
• Metric units are related in a “decimal” way. That means that each unit is either 10 (or a power of 10) times larger or smaller than other metric units.

• Decimeter - .1
• Meter - 1
• Decameter - 10
• Hectometer - 100
• Kilometer - 1000
