  • SUMMER TOT 2013 LocationUniversity of New England (UNE), Biddeford CampusTraining DetailsAugust 5-9, 2013: This intensive training experience intends to give you all you need to begintraining and implementing client directed outcome informed ideas and practices (CDOI) and thePartners for Change Outcome Management System (PCOMS). And it provides the first step inbecoming a Project Certified Trainer. Because of the three randomized clinical trials (RCT)conducted by researchers at the Project, PCOMS is now included in SAMHSA’s NationalRegistry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP).Becoming “client directed” starts with capitalizing on the common factors (the clients resourcesand resiliencies, the clients view of the alliance, and the clients hope for recovery) andunderstanding the research that supports these pantheoretical elements that account fortherapeutic transformation across models and schools of thought. This includes a thoroughknowledge of the empirical research about evidence based treatments, and more importantly, how to understand and help others to understand what can and cannot be claimed about modeleffectiveness.Becoming outcome informed, a revolutionary development in the field for consumers andtherapists, starts with an understanding of the combined research supporting Lambert’s OQThe Heart and Soul of ChangeProject and the University ofNew England are pleased toannounce the 2013 SummerTraining of TrainersConference. Come learn aboutPCOMS while you enjoybeautiful coastal Maine and itsoutdoor wonderland. Butreserve your place early.Participants will be limited to20 so that maximuminteraction, discussion, andlearning can occur.
  • System and PCOMS—which demonstrates that adding feedback to your work improvesoutcomes more than anything since the beginning of psychotherapy. Quite an assertion, but it’strue. A complete coverage of the research supporting PCOMS, the rationale for client feedback, the psychometrics of the ORS/SRS, and the clinical nuances of their use is essential to successfultraining and implementation. Finally, with eleven years of PCOMS consulting experience under his belt, Barry presents theFour Secrets of Successful Implementation : 1) In It for the Long Haul: organizationalcommitment at all levels; 2) Love Your Data: collection and use of data right out of the gate; 3)Inspire the Front-Line Clinician: connecting PCOMS to therapist desires to do good work andimprove over the course of their careers; and 4) Supervision for a Change: using the data toimprove outcomes and accelerate therapist development.Given that this week intends to prepare participants to train, implement, consult, and supervise, itis helpful (but not necessary if the participant prepares) to be well versed in CDOI/PCOMS andalready using the ORS and SRS. Preparatory materials and articles will be emailed by June 1.Participants Will Receive• Subscription to Member Site (a $120 value);• Barrys PowerPoint presentations including annotated PowerPoint presentations;• Administration and Scoring Manual of the ORS/SRS (a $39.95 value);• The Second Edition of the CDOI/PCOMS Manual which covers the whole gamut fromclinical implementation to supervision and agency implementation—Heroic Clients,Heroic Agencies (a $39.95 value); and• Certificate of attendance and 27 hr of Maine CEUs for counselors, social workers, andMFTs provided by UNE. 27 CEs for psychologists provided by the Training Institute.• CMEs will also be available.Fun, Fun, FunThis is an outdoor wonderland!
